cell?

Post by Jonathan »

Anyone have any good links? All I found with five minutes' half-hearted searching was some lame press articles and the ISSCC's website, which doesn't have any papers I can find.

This is what I got with a Google search of "Sony cell processor"...

http://www.blachford.info/computer/Cells/Cell0.html

I haven't read through this yet, but it looks like the guy spent a good deal of time trying to understand the patents filed and trying to tie that to info released to the press.

Ok, I agree, my head hurts too. The dude is guessing and doesn't seem to know what he's talking about half the time.

According to IBM, today's microchips were created with word processors and spreadsheets in mind and therefore struggle to cope with tasks such as downloading music and displaying video. The Cell chip has been designed to address this shortcoming.
Thanks, IBM.

I'm not dirty. I'm supposed to molt every 2-3 months.

Yes, my CPU is certainly the limiting factor in music download rates. Clearly AMD's inadequacy is the only reason I don't get the theoretical 3 Mbps my cable company claims they provide. I should sue.
