IE doesnt display .ico as an image, which is why I used .jpg since the forum doesnt like bmps either. save .ico to your desktop in windows and it'll show it as a normal icon file, which is what I'm guessing favicon for the web thingy uses as well.

of course, I am not even sure where this .ico is supposed to appear. My bookmarks are all normal IE ones, even for sites im pretty sure have a custom icon.

It works for me in Firefox 1.0. I had to delete my bookmark, create a new bookmark, and then use the new bookmark to get to the page before it showed up.

Um, that's what it's supposed to do, unless you mean it doesn't show up on your bookmark.

I think it's supposed to show up on the tabs as well (if you use firefox), but it's not...

Ah, I never use tabs, but my brief investigation shows Joe is less wrong than usual. CNN's icon shows up on the tab, but Mohtalim's does not. This is clearly somehow Joe's fault.

I blame Dave's bastard iconization. Visual inspection says to me that the tab icon and the location bar icon are different sizes.

Does IE even support it? I just tried CNN (my benchmark for all things icon related), and it doesn't show up on my work copy of IE. I think NG may have tweaked the deployed copies of IE, though I can't imagine why they would disable icon changes.

IE used to, I remember seeing google, cnn, and a few others, in both bookmarks and address menu, but now I don't... probably had some sercurity thing, where you can hide viruses in image files! yea!
