S&W Model 686 .357 revolver. Ok I don't actually HAVE it, but I will as soon as the waiting period is over.

Damn, AKs have too many accessories. I was disappointed I didn't find a side-folding stock at the gun show, so I went online. I ended up buying not only a stock, but also a new trigger group and a recoil buffer. And there's a bipod, front grip, muzzle break, and at least two rail mounts that I really want.
Hmm, maybe I should ask for some of them for Christmas. That would scare the hell out of my mother. She got nervous when my brother asked for a blowgun. Though what he wanted with a blowgun, I don't know.

Actually that's half the reason I'm getting the folding stock. It looks cool, it can be easily switched if I decide I don't like it, and some people claim its more comfortable (counter intuitive, but I've seen it several times).Martin wrote:Make sure you get the bayonet and muzzle flash suppressor. It's your second amendment right!
I may also thread the barrel, which would allow me to install a flash suppressor or muzzle brake. The flash suppressor is as pointless as a grenade launcher mount. Both really aren't useful except in a military situation. A muzzle break would be nice, since it reduces recoil.

Yes, I own a Romanian import WASR-10, which is a "sporting" clone of the AK-47. It is semi-automatic only, and since it was imported and sold while the so-called assault weapons ban was in effect, it has a number of cosmetic variations that make it US legal.
Now that the AWB has sunset, it is legal for me to undo a couple of those variations. Some, like adding a muzzle break make the rifle easier to use. Others, like the folding stock are just cool looking.
There are also a number of modifications that were never illegal; I just didn't bother looking for them before. The recoil buffer reduces recoil and prevents damage to several internal parts. The trigger group that came with the rifle has a very uneven pull, which makes it difficult to use without jerking. I'd like to replace the front hand grip with something with rails on it. The rails allow mounting a standard (i.e., cheap) bipod and front pistol grip, which could then be removed easily if I decided I didn't like them. The bipod has obvious uses. The front pistol grip is just cool looking. Then, if I do all that, I'll have to replace the upper grip, because it will no longer match the lower grip and stock. After that, I could always start playing with optics, laser sights, and flashlights, but I think I'd rather pick up another gun. I still want a Mosin-Nagant, an FN-FAL, a Saiga-20, a Steyr Aug or an L85A1, a SAW (fat chance) and maybe a 1911.

Good luck. It's been illegal to import automatic weapons since the 80s. Older automatics are still available (after a bunch of paperwork), but something as new as a TMP probably wouldn't have been available until after the ban went into effect. There must be some law against semi-automatic variations of submachine guns because I don't think I've seen any at the gun shows. Cobrays and Thompsons show up a lot, but I can't say whether they're full or semi-automatic. I saw an MP5 this weekend that was full auto. I had never been interested in them before, but having seen one up close, I wouldn't mind owning one.Dave wrote:I want a TMP!

Well George, now that you've got your AK-47, there's just one thing you need to go with it. Kalashnikov Vodka, created by the same man who designed your gun!
Well, I got the trigger group and stock and installed both. The trigger group was a complex installation that went very smoothly, though there was a piece left over after I was done. The stock on the other hand was a simple install (remove two screws, swap the stocks, replace the screws) that was next to impossible. I chipped and gouged the old stock pretty badly, and I nearly destroyed the head of one screw. Luckily I like the new one. I'll get out my old webcam and take a few pictures tomorrow.
Anyone want a stock and a trigger group, slightly used? Buy yourself another dozen or so parts, and you'll have your own AK.
