Corporate waste at its finest

Post by George »

Well, I came in to work this morning and saw half my co-workers standing in the hall outside their closed area (there are two for our program, I work in the other one). Turns out maintanance had arbitrarily decided to shut off the AC this weekend without telling anyone. All of our servers, along with some of our test benches were in that area. Most were turned on all weekend long. According to the first person to arrive this morning, the room got hot enough to start to melt the plastic on the phones.

Needless to say, all of the classified servers are down today, and no-one on that side will be getting any work done. Why? Because some clever management type decided that the program could save money by having everyone use a single copy of the development software via an X-server rather than buying licenses for each engineering workstation.

Unfortunately, my side of the program rejected that (for all the wrong reasons) so I actually have to work today. Truly life is unfair.

If you send me your resume peijen Harris gives out cash rewards to people taht refer new hires. $2k min, up to $8k if you are what they call a "hot job". This only applies to people with work expeirence so new grads dont count
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

Yeah, if you claim to be a Systems Engineer with ten years of C4ISR (Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence, Surveilance, Recon) experience, I can definately get you a job with a great salary at Northrop. Of course, C4ISR programs have really only been around for five years, so the idiots who posted that job must have been on crack. Nonetheless, with some appropriate tweaks to your resume, I'm sure you could pass.

The problem with working for the government is that you can't analyze what the bigger picture is.
