I went around shopping looking @ stuff, and am considering buying the following
~950 k 32" TV + ~150 stand
~500 sofa (3 seater)
~200 table that goes with above sofa
just wondering what everyone else did, and if they have any advice or something. The furniture sales person said it would take 3-4 weeks to deliver from the factory, which seems kinda long. The insurance on the TV is 4yr/$99.
How much to spend on TV / Furniture ?

I personally wouldn't buy a tv since I never watch it. As far as insurance, I believe your renters insurance should cover the tv too. You need to make sure you have sufficient coverage for the replacement value of everything you have and will get. You might want to make sure that things like hurricanes are protected too although it's probably pretty hard/expensive to get such coverage down there.

We spent more on the sofa and less on the TV. YMMV. Also, we actually bought a TV armoire instead of a stand so you don't always have to look at the TV (and to have a place to keep DVDs, PS2 games, and their respective devices). The armoire is, of course, more expensive than a stand.
I guess our thinking is TVs get replaced more often than sofas do.
We actually swung a pretty good deal because we got a model from the back of the store that they didn't have on display because I looked at Sony's website and knew which one I wanted. So we didn't pay for PIP or some other crap that we wouldn't use. The screen is still nice, though.

well, I went cheapish and got the following:
$550 Sony 32" flat (non HD) w/ $150 stand
$400 fake black leather sofa w/ $200 table / 2 side stands
$200 cabinet thingy for clothes and stuff
2 x $10 blinds since a parking light is right outside my damn window
and the best part is FFXI paid for it all
only problem is the TV is coming tommorow and the furniture in 2+ weeks
