You mean quantum entanglement in a fabbed semiconductor has been demonstrated. Physicists have been entangling gobs of things for years.quantus wrote:http://www.eetimes.com/at/news/showArti ... D=19900040
Quantum entanglement has been demonstated... Quantum computing reality moves another step forward.

The emphasis here is they are using the spin of an electron from this isolated atom as their qubit. The hope is this idea might scale. Several other physical qubits, like ions trapped using magnets and lasers, don't have much hope of scaling beyond toy systems, like factoring 4-bit numbers. Those guys are, however, a little ahead in the state of the art compared to the semiconductor guys, last I checked.Quantum dot: an atom so confined and isolated that the removal or addition of a single electron can be detected

Jamiee Foxworth, who played Judy on Family Matters, wound up doing porn briefly. Old news, but I didn't hear until last week.

More crap from /.
This seems really nice. As an experiment, here's the file that Alan posted about TW: rometw_tr59_qt.zip. Try redownloading it to see if it is any faster.

Well, when I download directly I get ~370 kb/s. When I try through freecache, I get...370 kb/s. I'm guessing that's my cap.Dwindlehop wrote:http://www.archive.org/web/freecache.php

Second large impact crater identified near australia which likely caused a mass extinction 250 million years ago. The other one is of course near Mexico and hit about 65 million years ago.
