trip to LA

Post by Peijen »

looks like I can't go before sharad leaves so whoever wanted to go should go ahead without me.

but if I leave AR before then (i think July 4th weekend was the plan) I can try to make.

Heh, it was a little fun trip we spontaneously discussed when we went to CMU for Carnival (George, Jason (driver), Peijen and I). Unfortunately, I still don't know what my schedule will be then (so not a definite no), but laziness may also prove to be a formidable enemy.

Randomness: I'll be at CMU tomorrow morning (~5:30 am) for a friend's wedding. Yes, that's in ~12 hours.

Ok, so is this supposed to be a drive across the country to LA or something? Where is Sharad going that you might miss him? What did Peijen want to message me about? He has yet to do so even though my laptop at home has been online for a week. This bboard is to discuss stuff, yet there seems to be something completely missing...

Hehe, I don't think any of us constantly refresh the bboard. Give it some time. As for details, that's about all I know so far myself...

The sharad bit is because jason said he wants to go there while sharad is still there. i dont think we are crazy enough to drive across country to LA, could be fun, but no.

the stuff I need to message you about is sort of related to the new thread I posted in private forum, but I can't do anything for that as of now. I will try to message you tonight or something.

If you guys do somehow get out to this part of the country around the 4th of July, I might be able to get myself down there. I have a lack of vacation days since I just started and have commitments which will use them all  , but with the extra day off that weekend, it would be very doable. There are amusement parks and stuff like Knott's Berry Farm and Disney Land and I think a Universal Studios and a Six Flags down there... What were you planning on doing down there when you got there or haven't you really even planned that far?

Ok. I guess I should straighten this out.

First off, Sharad is in San Fran.
Second, he's only there through part of August I think. Then he's moving back to Charlotte.
Third, I was planning on going sometime in May, but I didn't get off my ass and buy a ticket, and also as vinny mentioned we thought maybe we could go as a group.
Fourth, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go, but seeing as I have no idea what I'm going to be doing job-wise in July, it's probably better if I go in late June (although I guess I'm flexible).

Ok, yeah, Sharad messaged me earlier and told me he was in San Fran, so what's up with this LA talk? geez. He works for Bank of America in downtown SF. I'll probably go visit him soon since he's not that far away and I'm going to Berkeley on the weekends anyways which is even closer - just a BART ride away.

Does he have a better offer in Charlotte or are there other reasons he's moving?

Why don't you know what's going on job-wise in July? Just too far out or are you changing jobs? I'm so confused and lost. If you're coming out this way, look me up. I won't be here June 25-28 because of my sister's wedding back in NY.

As far as getting a ticket to out here, it hasn't been too expensive as of late. Have you tried look on Orbitz or SideStep?

I heard Sharad grew like 2 feet so he's like 6'8" now
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

He was on year-long rotations and is finishing up. The work he's interested in is only in Charlotte, so he's moving there. Also since the only place worth living is on the east coast, he's coming to his senses.

My job is kind of going nowhere and it's coming up on 2 years since I started. Unless something major happens before July, I'm going to have to change something up. Not sure what really. Might try another job within my division, maybe another division, maybe another division in another part of the country, maybe another company, I really don't know.

JetBlue used to fly out to Oakland for 100 bucks, but with the rising gas prices that went away fast. Orbitz has flights sometimes for 300 bucks roundtrip. I was thinking of coming June 25-28.

Just to clarify, you chose those dates just for spite, or were seriously considering them?

I'm going to be in San Francisco from June 18th to the 20th. I'll be staying with Sharad. So if anyone wants to meet us out there that could be cool.

When do you leave on the 20th and from where? I'd be up for meeting you. What are you guys going to do?
