new topics per day, posts per day statistics available

Post by Jonathan »

I didn't actually bother to make a new statistics mod. I just coded up some junk and stuck it on the front page. If anyone wants to see more running averages or wants to see the running averages placed in the statistics page, whine about it here and I'll see what I can do.

Geez, picky much?

Fine.

I have added a running average for the posts/topics per month to the main page as well. Now I want you to post more to hit a goal.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to keep the weekly average above the monthly average. If you manage that, try keeping the weekly average above the all time average (currently hovering around 20 posts per day).

That would require increased effort with time for a constant number of people. Maybe we should just recruit more people to accomplish this goal?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I wonder, how do you propose to do that?

ouch.

Does this mean none of us has friends outside this circle? Probable.

Does this mean that none of us have friends outside this circle that we want to subject to the content of this bboard? More probable.

Does this mean that none of us have friends outside this circle who would be interested in the posts on this bboard? Even more probable.

Hey, I'm just saying what we're all thinking.

Whee, Jason's reasserting his pessimism. (Also, no I wasn't thinking that)

Regarding bringing people to the board, I probably could from both work and IRC, but the time and effort to adjust would most like be destroyed by the power of laziness. Also, several people I know already frequent their own bboards. What would entice them to contribute/spend their time here as well?

This, in and of itself, is not a bad thing, since I thought the main purpose behind the bboard was to maintain long distance communication between us and our interests after CMU. Well, that and to alleviate boredom 8)

FYI, regarding my posting, it's been drastically reduced due to FFXI and the associated bboard.

Then I propose two separate courses of action. First, there's currently only 7 CMUers regularly reading the bboard. Increase that number and you're half way there. The other course of action, of course, is to beat FFXI!

As soon as I get my imaginary friends imaginary computers, they will be able to post!
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.
