I think it should be MANDATORY for all news sites, not just the technical ones like Slashdot, to link to some motherfuckin' primary sources. The increased blogization of our news media fills me with despair. It's fine to summarize several years worth of research in a 500 word article. I appreciate the service the journalist has done in identifying pertinent information and boiling it down for a general audience. But in the 21st century, every article should link directly to the website of the subject. Not a press release. Not a conference abstract. In fact, when they report exciting new experimental results, I want to read the paper.
