EE Times - Google to purchase Skype?
Actually, this seems like it could be a good fit, especially if they want to disrupt wireless carriers since you just need to use voip for everything and stop using voice on the cell phone networks kinda like getting a verizon wireless card thingy. The trick is that you keep logging in through different IP's all the time and knowing where to keep sending the packets so you don't drop a call. I'm not sure a p2p system like skype would handle that all too well though.
