I didn't preorder one, but a Wii shouldn't be too hard to get a few weeks after launch (I hope) since Nintendo is planning on provided a lot of supply, unlike Sony.

As for a PS3, I'm not interested in getting one until they have a confirmed fun game (sport games don't count).

I remember buying an n64 to play zelda and then realizing zelda sucks.

I bought a Dreamcast to play pirated games and then realized all the games suck

I bought a PS2 for FFX, which kinda sucked then bought FFX-2 for $50 and couldnt stand playing past the 1st boss.

So i hear zelda on wii is pretty cool

Not gonna get nextgen consoles... maybe Wii if they have some awesome 2-player simultaneous game that Amber likes. But otherwise, not going there. Too expensive.

I feel like my TV isn't good enough for it to be worth buying a next-next-next-gen console.

So for me not only are they too expensive, I'd have to buy a new TV too.

Not worth it.

Amber bought a Wii for my birthday. Is the LAN adapter worth it?

Also,

Every single store in Portland was out, except for one Costco.

Yep, it's hard to imagine myself being any more wrong. It's sold out all over the place here as well (~6 months after launch).

Actually used one at a friend's birthday party last night. 4 player tennis can be incredibly fun 8)

Yea, I had to order mine in a package (zelda + one extra controller set) online since none of the stores nearby had any.

By lan adapter, you mean the USB thumbtype thingy?

Well I just use a cheapo wireless router set to WEP encryption (because wep is like, the bestester) to connect to my DS and Wii.

I don't have any Wii point tho. I am a sad panda.

We got Super Paper Mario, which we're halfway through, and Zelda, which we're just barely out of the intro. Or maybe still in it, I haven't bothered to pin it down. Both are good games. Paper Mario has too many damn different ways to heal, though.

Yep, I detected 4 different wireless signals from my Wii and 3 from my DS, and just put in my WEP key and used mine. Downloaded the new update and the useless internet channel and browsed the Wii store. Might get Mario 64 for $10 but probably not since I have 0 Wii points.

Buying them, either using your CC online or buying point cards with input codes in stores.

$1 = 100 points

500 pts for 1 NES game
800 pts for 1 SNES game
1000 pts for 1 n64 game

I bought $20 of points then I realized I want only SNES or N64 games, both of which require non-Wii controllers, which I don't own.

Er...

And, oh, Wii works just fine with WPA but craps out with no usable error message on WPA2. Took me a while to figure that out.

What we really need is a two-player simultaneous coop game for Wii, either new or Virtual Console or GC. Any suggestions?

Sooo I caved in and bought a Wii this past weekend
(got lucky down @ circuit city in Richmond)

Two questions to the Wii Informed:
1. Do any of you ever have problems with the remote signal/accuracy? Depending on how far back I stand and where I stand, my remote icon will go on a fritz as if it can't pinpoint where I'm pointing to...this could be the fact that our TV is too big (65inch)...

2. When you buy a game from virtual console...how do you get it/where is it stored? Is it downloaded and stored on the SD flash card and can be shared with anyone that has a Wii?

The only game they have so far that I might get is Bomberman93 for turbographics16. Do you know if they have network support? Would be kick ass if we could get 5 players to play :P

I'll probably be look for some good coop games as well but off the top of my head is

Golden Axe 1 & 2 (gotta love the sfx)

There was a few more I saw in the Virtual Console I think...I'll check when I get home
