Well, I predict several more years of court cases. But I bet the odds are good that Apple will release a version of iTunes that lets you rip DVDs to iPod.

Also, I like this thought:
One of the most promising is Audible Magic’s content protection technology.
...
The beauty of such schemes is that they don’t actually prevent anyone from making copies of original content. Their purpose is simply to collect royalties when a breach of copyright has occurred. By being reactive rather than pre-emptive, normal law-abiding consumers are then left in peace to enjoy their music and video collections in any way they choose.
I would greatly enjoy this, as the last time I downloaded a Hollywood movie or major label band from filesharing was several years ago, but the number of times I have wanted to rip my DVDs is large.

This could keep Apple from doing that, or anyone else for that matter!
The DVD Copy Control Association will vote Wednesday (June 20) on an amendment to its bylaws that would explicitly forbid OEMs from selling systems that make copies of movies, even for secure internal storage on a hard disk. The move is seen as a reaction to the group's loss in a key civil suit it brought against startup Kaleidescape earlier this year.

The DVD CCA, a broad group of studios and consumer electronics companies, licenses the security technology for accessing encrypted video on DVDs. Its proposed amendment would make it a violation of the license for anyone to make a system that stores a persistent copy of a video or decrypts a video when the physical disk is not present.
