Just to make sure, have you heard of Slingmedia's Slingcatcher? It's a wireless receiver that can hook up to legacy TVs for video/audio playback. I'd actually be a bit surprised if you haven't, with all the fanfare.

I’ve never used a SlingBox in part because I’ve never wanted to get things off my TV, I want to get things on my TV. The new SlingCatcher does exactly that, it moves content from your PC to your television.

The SlingCatcher brings Slingbox TV programing onto the TV - YES, I want that!

The SlingCatcher also has the ability to download or stream content directly from the Internet and display it on a TV without the need for a PC to serve that content.

The irony is that one of the coolest demonstrations was from Sling Media, a company known for delivering the opposite -- streaming television to your computer.

The SlingCatcher can best be described as a reverse Slingbox; instead of tapping into your local TV with your Internet-connected laptop or smartphone, the SlingCatcher is designed to deliver Web and PC video or audio to a television located in the home or to remote locations via the Internet.

Oh, and if the quality of the Slingcatcher is similar to the Slingbox, there's a good chance it will rock.

My roommate bought a Slingbox after I recommended looking into it, since he didn't want to miss soccer games while in Europe. He's been constantly using it to control his DVR, be it from his room, or from Europe, etc. with no problems since.

I know about Slingbox. Haven't heard about Slingcatcher. Sounds like Apple TV, then? What's the price differential?

From the articles, Slingcatcher is slated for a $200 release. I'm not sure about iTV though.

It's $299, which is high.
