Recently I've noticed an innovation on the behalf of the advertisers to get around Firefox's popup blocker. A good example is the snopes.com link that Vinny just posted.

Does anyone know a way to prevent Firefox from opening these popups?

The ad doesn't popup every time. I'm not sure what the algorithm is.

I get no popup under Safari with the popup blocker option set. I opened the link in a new window several times, both with and without the popup blocker option set.

Actually, apparently my popup blocker wasn't set. Experimenting time!

Grr. I actually get the "Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window. Click here for options..." message and the popup.
