Anyone think FFXI is attempting to improve rudimentary programming skills? (was about to add "among youth", but I have no idea what the average age MMORPGer is). Alternatively, that'd be a nice company reimbursed training class 8)

now if there were a quick "attack who is attacking your target" button lol
Umm I use F1-F6 all the time, but we were talking about being in combat mode and trying to use spells like cure to cure yourself. If ou press F1 to select yourself during combat mode it won't work you need to disengage. You can do as alan suggested by using <st>, WHICH defeats the purpose of having a macro because you still have to select...hard to do so in a big party with everyone standing next to each other.

If you want to make separate macros to heal each party member you can use <p0> through <p5> or <a10> through <a15> for alliance members above you and <a20> through <a25> for the ones below you.

That's a lot of macros.

Also when you use <st> in your macro you can use the macro, THEN use f1 to f6 and select people that way.

Yes it works, I've done it.

I have lots of spells as it is, filling up just about all the slots in ctrl #1 and alt #1 macro slots. Don't like to use #2 and above so having a party member per slot is not something I want to do

You can select f1 to f6 with <st> when you're in combat mode? never tried <st> before but if that works that would be good. Then again when I'm in a party I never go in combat mode anyway.

It helps to be able to cure yourself while soloing so I leave all my curative/defensive magic with <st>, except for the self only magic, which I macro with <me>.

You could also use <me> with Cure if you're just soloing to cut down on one step. And then change it to <t> when you're in a party.

Why does self only magic even require a target?

So you can press tab over and over again to accomplish nothing.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.
