hehe, magic bursts...what you called is skill chains. hmm I wish I can do magic bursts with my LIGHT ATTACKS...and shouldn't light attacks do more dmg on undead? I've noticed no different in dmg done to undead vs. nonundead

mmm... magic bursts... even better... mid-renkei magic bursts... mmm...

And yeah, I downloaded the avi's from the renkei faq. Timing's going to take some practice, but it doesn't look THAT bad.

If holy healed allies, that'd truly kick ass

I still remember FF6 with merton and fire absorption equipment.
Barbecued Enemies + Full Health = Happy Party. 8)

Well I'm trying to level up quickly to catch up to you guys. I'll probably be level 10 or 11 by this weekend, but things are kind of crazy with work right now, so my play time is limited.

Also, I thought I read somewhere that you could do magic bursts with Cure spells also? Anyone try yet?

I think I remember reading that as well.

btw, as far as I can tell a magic burst requires at least 3 people (2 WS, 1 Spell). Actually, I'm doubting people here have been doing it since 3 person parties don't seem to be effective just yet. Also, if they have done it, I'd hope they'd post about it already 8)

We had a pretty effective 5-man party going last night:

14 sword war
12 scythe war
10 (then 11) thief
11 whm
14 rdm

Us 14ths were getting between 35 and 60 exp per kill, which ain't too bad. The lower levels of course got less but not by too much I think.

Handle: VLSmooth
Name: <to be created>
Class: MNK (maybe WAR, maybe THF, ARGH!)
Starting City: Will be Bastok

Also, can people who didn't post both their handle and name edit their posts for clarification. So far I've only contacted Alan.

ie. dave, tash, tash's friend, nu (I think your posts are only names not handles)

Better yet, bombard me with "Let's be friends" e-mails to make things easier 8)

Why? The handle is useless, and, moreover, confusing.

Handle's useful if you're going to be playing an alt. Otherwise.. not really.

Mine's "nu" though, in any case.

So you're finally starting, then?

Eh? Okay, can someone clarify what each is important for then? I thought the handle was more useful since that ties to PSOnline and the friends list. Or is there a separate friends list just for FFXI based on FFXI names? Yep, I'm confused.

Works like this:

/befriend <character name/Tetra Master name>

If they accept, you add their handle to your friends list. Now, when you look at the list, you see their handle + the current name they're using (whether they're in FF, just sitting in the Viewer outside the game, or playing TM.

The handle is prety much never used. If you're gonna be playing the game, you'll never use the handle in the playonline viewer (and there's no alt-tab). On your friendlist both char name and handle will show up though. But forget about handles, just use your char name.
