Urban Dead
Re: Urban Dead
So I take it you're in the fire station atm? How's the situation there? When I went into the bar there were 2 zombies north of me at the cinema (damn the batman movie hype!!! even the undead are lining up!). 1 Zombie south....and I think there was 1 zombie at the hospital. Hopefully they will go away or maybe someone has barricaded it already. Down to 1 AP so I gotta stay put for now. There's a fireman and a medic here. The hospital will be hard to hold unless we have someone w/ construction since I've noticed the first thing zeds go for are power generators once they break in. This is probably a long shot...but once you deploy a generator but you probably can't take it back right? I'll try take to a quick peak outside once I recharge AP a bit.

Re: Urban Dead
Not the same screen on the game map. I'm still like two dozen spaces away and in Flucks bank.
Well, I could go for Construction when I level. I'm at 85 XP. How about you?
I was thinking we close the doors on a bunch of ruined hospitals nearby as a measure of indirection. If we had some tools we could repair one and barricade that, but we don't have tools...

Re: Urban Dead
Dang, time to start over... again.# You were killed by a zombie. (33 minutes ago)
quantus04 now lives. He's a fireman with 49XP and holed up in a bank in South Monroeville. I'll head back toward where quantus02 was to meet up with you guys. At least I've got almost 2/3rds the XP of my previous character already. Note to self: it's fun whacking zombies for XP when they're almost dead. Dead in this case meaning undead, but knocked down at least.
Re: Urban Dead
There seems to be a 10XP bonus if you do finish a zombie so always try to find the weakest zombie and "knock it out" first. I have yet to finish off any zombie due to my low acc but...eventually I'll get there.
I only have 25XP (1/2 of which is probably from dumping dead bodies). I'd say hold off on the construction skill till you actually find a toolkit. Get something that's useful for your own survival first like bodybuilding or more accuracy. But also depends on how many people we can efficiently band together with.

We need a day in the death of your character report. Why'd you die?quantus wrote:quantus04 now lives. He's a fireman with 49XP and holed up in a bank in South Monroeville. Free Running is pretty useless without a bunch of barricades around. I'm still on the fence with Construction if we ever survive long enough to bunch up, we can surely benefit from some light barricading in our nightly shelter.
Also, some intel:
Monroeville Many is heading to Oak Hill.

I got clawed again and again and again... and then turned undead... what else is there to say? I should've stood up so someone could get some free XP. I guess I could log back in and do that.Dwindlehop wrote:We need a day in the death of your character report. Why'd you die?quantus wrote:quantus04 now lives. Oooo, I could even go inside a building so the body can be dumped afterwards, then get back up, go inside and repeat...

Dude, get yourself a skill so you can actually hit something and level up a bit quicker. Right now, I get roughly 1XP/AP and I'll do better when I have hand-to-hand.Dwindlehop wrote:Free Running is pretty useless without a bunch of barricades around. Re: Urban Dead
How'd they find you? Where were you hiding? What was your movement pattern? Did you outpace the scent after attacking? Where you hiding in dark places? In barricaded places? With others? Alone? How long did the zombies have their way with you before you died? Did it take multiple sessions?quantus wrote:I got clawed again and again and again... and then turned undead... what else is there to say? I should've stood up so someone could get some free XP. If our guys get picked off every third day, there's really no point. We need to work out an algorithm for staying alive, which means we need to examine our deaths.

Re: Urban Dead
Main issue I see is without Construction we can't be immune to the random feral who has acquired Memories of Life. A feral may always have low AP, but in the long run losing 9-12 HP every couple of days is a losing proposition unless we secure a FAK source.

Re: Urban Dead
The doors were closed, but that was all. There was one other person, but he ran away already or maybe died. I dunno since I missed the action update. There were two zombies hanging out next door that didn't seem to be doing anything. I dumped my scent by entering another building first before going to the one I was hiding in. I was only staying 1 or 2 squares away from zombies I'd try to attack, so I wasn't trying to evade them really. Besides, my hit rate was atrocious for some reason and I was trying to use my AP to gain XP rather than run. Even though it said 25%, I'd get like 1 hit in 6 or 7 attempts. There were no zombies around when I got back to my computer and they did all 30 damage at once and pretty quickly.
Right now, I'm hiding in a dark bank with 2 others, so maybe I'll be more likely to stay alive here. There are 2 zombies hanging out at the bar next door though, so who knows?!

Re: Urban Dead
I'm trying this as my goal for each day:
28 AP for XP gain (moving, searching and axing)
10 AP for outdistancing scent
1 AP for entering a termporary safehouse
1 AP for closing the doors
10 AP you don't spend in case zeds arrive
I regularly eat into the 10Ap buffer, though, because I'm a gambler, baby. Edit: also cuz zeds usually arrive.

Re: Urban Dead
I would like to try something like every three days for three guys (3*24*2*3=432AP):
30AP for seeking targets
342AP for XP gain (342/3 = 114 AP/person = 34 AP per day)
30AP for fleeing to new shelter
30AP for barricading new shelter
Math looks sad for a single guy, though, trying to barricade up every 72 hours.

Re: Urban Dead
How about this as an eventual destination?
http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Mon ... ctory_Zone
Specifically the Rockafellow Bar at [343,58]. We could get enough generators, fuel, and toolboxs to live like kings.

Re: Urban Dead
Bad luck billy actually spawned in that area. There were two warehouses in that area that were non-ruin and VHB but they both eventually fell down. I think I spent an entire day or two there searching for crap before finally finding an axe. The power plant and all the buildings in the area were ruined. Some random small mobs of zombies (2~4 in size) so I fled down south toward St. Barbara's Hospital. That was days ago...so dunno how it looks now.
How heavy are generators? I figure that might be a limiting factor for hoarding those at least. I would check but the wiki page is down!!!! what will I do =(

Re: Urban Dead
Hospital is vacated, I went in todo a small search for faks, 10 tries, one success. I closed the door and went back into the bar. The 2 zombies are still lurking in the theatre above. Hopefully they didn't see me pop in and out.

Re: Urban Dead
Generator is 20%. Tools are 16%, but you will want to carry those around forever.
Re: Urban Dead
I have two options at the moment. I can either head west to scout the area for a safe spot and maybe pick up a toolkit if I get luck...or I can do a longer FAK search on the hospital nearby. I have (30/50 AP atm). I've been holed up in this bar for about 24hrs now so I dunno how much longer it will be safe for. It depends on how badly you guys need healing and how far you are away from me I guess as well. Will head out in 10hours (or sooner if zeds pop in).

Re: Urban Dead
I have 38HP. I think we should get together first. I am looking for a new dark building to land in.
