Re: Time waster
Our population is over 500 now so we have to start worrying about the environment too. On a side note, I remembered that I have access to the CMU unix machines and have started getting more clicks from their IPs. Unfortunately, it seems like there are only 9 machines to use. Anyone remember some other machines at CMU that might still be up to log into remotely?

ECE was a separate kerberos domain though. I'm pretty certain they disabled my account and archived it a long while ago... Yep, a klog into the ECE domain gives me a user does not exist error.Dwindlehop wrote:Maybe the ECE machines?

I believe there was a set of linux boxes (like 20-50) as well, but I don't remember their naming scheme.

Re: Time waster
unix.andrew.cmu.edu and linux.andrew.cmu.edu both map to the same machines now and they're all Linux based. sun4 has been deprecated because there are no more Sun machines. If there were any CS specific machines, I might still have access to the CS cell since SE was hosted under SCS until recently. Now it's in CIT.Jason wrote:I believe there was a set of linux boxes (like 20-50) as well, but I don't remember their naming scheme.

In a village of 538 people. Citizens of MiniNation sure build densely.quantus wrote:yay, we actually have a sky scraper over 10 stories.

I agree, we sure do build densely. We now have a second tower. Maybe it's more like 1k people per minicity person?
Just FYI, the switch over to a new "day" happens at 0:00 GMT which is means 6PM EST and 3PM PST. We're getting close to being in the top 1100. Click and help get us there.

I think you're underestimating the need to keep up with the Jones. If your neighbor puts up a five story building or petroleum tank, the best way to respond is by replacing your ranch home with a ten-story skyscraper. Nothing shows off like a single-family high-rise.

Re: Time waster
It went from like 2 people/day increase needed to get to 1000 and it averaged 4 people/day over the last 4 days! With all the other maintenance clicks needed, if this rate increases by 2 again, we might not be able to keep moving up in the rankings. We only averaged 6 people/day over the last 4 days.[23/07] Joe: We need 647 to be in the top 1000 as of today. 11 more to go!
[27/07] Joe : We need 664 to be in the top 1000 as of today. 4 more to go!
Re: Time waster
We're in the top 1000, and that's enough to start some spamming.

Re: Time waster
we can expect similarly ranked cities to receive similar volumes of spam. Spam will make our city grow, but it's unlikely that spam will be an asset for increasing our rank.

Heh, I just noticed the links are still in Joe's signature, so I clicked through. Our poor city has fallen to #2282.

Re: Time waster
And now we're about 3100... We need about 5100 more population to get to rank 1100 now... The rank 1 city has over 30 million population.
