Huh, so Intel's gonna go into a razor-thin margin business? Doesn't seem like Intel's typical area of success.

TBH, Rattner is always talking shit about stuff that is, um, fanciful. I have no idea what he's talking about.

The goal may be a bit pie in the sky, but some of the technologies developed like maybe ultra-fast hibernate to deal with unstable power supplies could be useful for everyone and cheaper than a battery. New technologies are seldom cheap though, so doing a lot of R&D when the return is likely very small, probably not so smart. It's kinda like a company I used to work for did and see where it's gotten them...
