Ashley Todd says she was mugged in Bloomfield and then the attacker flew into a fit of rage upon seeing a McCain bumper sticker on her car. She claims the assailant then struck her down and carved a B into her face.

This girl's story seems like a hoax. The narrative is too convenient. Comparing the photo to googled images of real black eyes, the girl's black eye looks like more like a product of eye-shadow than a real black eye. There's no shininess, no puffiness, no blood-shot veins in the eye, no breaks on the skin, no sharp boundary indicating the specific location of the blunt trauma, no irregular red, blue, or purple discoloration, no irregularities at all as far as I can tell. There are several other inconsistencies to this story, although I won't repeat them all here.

Police are issuing a polygraph because her story wasn't checking out. And probably because the girl is full of it. We'll see how this story develops.

A backwards B makes a certain kind of sense in that context. Poor lady.
