Can you request a non-RFID card from your bank if they give you an RFID one?

I heard that you can break RFID chips by taking a hammer to them. A few quick whacks so fix your problem without messing with the magnetic tape on the credit card.
The sure way to fry a RFID chip is to microwave it for 5 seconds, but that would make the rest of the credit card useless.
