The more I think about it, the less certain I am how the man born in 1980 or 1981 can benefit from this information. Date older chicks?

I think there's no benefit for the guy really as long as the woman is choosing. If the equation gets turned around, there's still the fact that you have to know what you want that will rule the equation. If you can't decide, what's the use of having a better choice?

I think the main thing to get out of those articles is that people need to be able to match their pickiness with their level of attractiveness (not just looks, but the whole package). The gender difference is that men need to know which women to go after, and women need to know which men to accept.
Those articles don't really apply much to guys born in 1980 or 1981 otherwise. They're mostly just telling the attractive women out there that if they place too high a value on themselves and are unwilling to accept anything less than what they think they deserve, they're going to end up 40 and alone.
