Virginia's Senate race is one of the races which determine who controls the Senate. Donate money for Jim Webb in the second link. Or hell, vote for Allen the macaca guy.

I'm still undecided how I'll vote. I'm thinking I'll just vote for the candidates I've never heard of as thanks for not stuffing my mailbox, harassing me by phone, and posting illegal signs blocking line of sight on roads.

The alternative is to vote against the guy with the stupidest campaign promises. I know they'll never fulfill any of them, but I'm offended they'd even suggest some of these things. Like requiring background checks on every person that works with children. Or property tax relief specifically for seniors on fixed incomes. Or the creation of a special phone number "to ensure departmental responsiveness to constituent concerns".

What a Democratic-led House would do in the first 100 hours:

Day One: Put new rules in place to "break the link between lobbyists and legislation."

Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Time remaining until 100 hours: Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step. Cut the interest rate on student loans in half. Allow the government to negotiate directly with the pharmaceutical companies for lower drug prices for Medicare patients.

Dems win House, no one surprised. But with 99% of precincts reporting, Webb is ahead and the Montana guy is projected to win, hence Dems may very well win the Senate. I am surprised. Go go Bush!

In other news, a majority of states have Dem governors now. And Oreogn voted down almost all the measures on the ballot, including one requiring parental notification before minors can get abortions, with no provisions for rape or incest.

Now they've won control, it's time to raise taxes, regulate the investment world, and funnel the proceeds to undeserving black people and gay Jews! Woo!

Correction, nothing will get done. Everything they start in the legislature will get vetoed at the executive branch. I forsee my industry is going to suck for the next few years as less and less gets done as the in fighting increases exponentially.

Actually, I demand to know Joe's monthly paychecks and how much of it he spends on hookers!

Unfortunately, that's not true. Remember that the president is a raging liberal on some issues. I expect to see illegal immigrant amnesty, much higher Medicare spending, and a worse deficit. Looks like minimum wage will increase, since I can't imagine Bush could afford to veto that.

And it looks like he's at least going to act like he's changing in Iraq. I haven't heard anyone propose doing anything specific, so I'm sure we'll still be mired there in 2008, but I would expect to have lots of commissions and reports on what we already know.
