ASCN, a large player alliance in Eve, built the first ever titan, the Amarr Avatar. It cost them 160B isk (about $20k). I believe the picture has a few rows of escort battleships beside it, to give it a sense of scale. The squarish structures on the top and bottom are capital ship construction hangars.
A titan is the only ship that can fit the only ranged AoE weapon in the game, which happens to be powerful enough to destroy a fleet of battleships in one shot (though a well-fitted fleet could take one hit and live). Other bonuses include a jump clone station so your allies can teleport to your location instantly and a clone bay so your allies can respawn at your location if podkilled. It is also immune to all debuffs and gives some crazy gang bonuses. It is basically a Death Star.
It's too big to dock in a station. If caught alone, I would estimate you'd need ten to fifteen battleships (costing half a billion apiece) to take it out, but of course the whole point is that the titan should be escorted at all times.
