How serious are you? You could build something comparable for under $200, maybe less. I haven't been to Home Depot lately.

There's no way you could build something nearly as nice or as functional for $200 BOM, completely ignoring the labor aspect altogether.

I assumed that Vinny was more interested in the suitability for gaming than the material and build quality. What's the marginal value of solid hardwood and traditional joinery among people who think a dedicated gaming table is cool?

You could certainly build a table with a recessed center and a variety of shelves, cabinets, and drawers with $200 worth of pine, plywood, and miscellaneous hardware fittings. Stained and varnished, it might not even look bad. Using oak for the visible parts would probably add 50-100% to its cost. If you insist on including the opportunity cost of the time you spend building it, the cost would be higher.

Hmm, looking at the description again, I wonder about having only four desks. Are larger groups SOL?

Perhaps people can share? The table is rather huge btw (7.5' x 4').
