Here's my notes for the NWN campaign I never made. Note some elements of this did find their way into that one-and-a-half times Peijen and Jason played with me.
Dwindlehop, when he had too much goddamn time, wrote:-find out when night/day are
-investigate shops (how to customize inventory, items that appear)-done
-investigate little pop-up descriptions-possible OnClick script: SpeakOneLinerConversation
-investigate item creation-TBD
-investigate some sort of macroing for dialogue--need internet? can be done, but requires planning ahead, starting server beforehand
-investigate character export from module to module--can it be done with server side characters?
-description of module
-server settings: AD&D hardcore, -10 death, Full PVP... other?

Planned factions:
Hostiles: goblinoids
Extraplanar: Justan et al. hostile to hostiles, but could change.
Defender: defends pcs
Baron: doesn't defend pcs
commoner: most people.

Planned Guys:
Mr. <lastname> - defender fighter, chainmail, hp, no decent weapon. defender.
Syed - defender. little boy. fighter. archery skillz. little hp. lots of arrows. dies.
general store guy- see desc. commoner dies.
Smith- see desc defender. dies.
Mrs. <lastname> - defender. dies.
Jiana! probably dies. defender.
Grom Hellscream - Orc. Hostile. Dies like the rest.
10 random women - mostly die. common
20 random children - mostly die. common
20 more random women/children for cave common. hopefully don't die, but oh well.
Orc Irregular. hostile. well armored, well armed. decent level... 3-ish. two kinds, one with a magic bow. other with sword.
Dudes-extraplanar. killing hostiles, sees pcs. if pcs talk, will talk back briefly. always engages, no matter what. impish fuckers. should be capable of going toe-to-toe with an Ogre. jeez.
Extraplanar dudes--extraplanar. super whatzits. not balors. some spells. throw some scrolls on 'em for loot. variety. elemental.
Elementals...extraplanar. for fun.
Baron Dwin D'LeHop-baron. no fighting ability.
Guards. baron.
Townsfolk. commoner.
Scout Guy- defender. couple fighter levels. archery. lots of arrows. defender.
Forest enc: more orc irregulars. dire wolves, badgers 'n' shit.

Planned Exp:
Levels for living through the night first couple nights.
Levels for saving father.
Levels for saving wimins.
Exp for attempting to convince baron to help without attacking him
Exp for realizing that the extraplanar critters are driving out the goblinoids
Levels for successfully preventing more than a handful of deaths at the second town

Planned Areas:
*all areas not restable unless otherwise noted
*spare the traps except at places truly requiring protection by those of means

*General Store/Pub - ale, no potions, crap 65-101
*Smith-hammers, short swords, daggers, bows, leather 100-150

Opening: Small Village, current time until next sunset
night music is battle music
Public House plus general store
Smithy
Mill...?
Couple regular houses
Chickens
Someone's father comes to see them off
Gifts of a little gold, maybe a couple scrolls, one +1 dagger (Your father's dagger)
Establish that there is a sentry with a bow to shoot any wolves
Delay them with outpourings of grief and good luck until night
A few goblin archers plus a couple goblin elite are the vanguard
spawn orc/2 goblin groups for a while, let the pcs defend themselves
kill some people in town
Spawn some Orc Irregulars with barbarian levels plus some decent armor
spawn orcs plus ogre
make npcs tell pcs to run to the hills to the south! we have caves with supplies for emergencies!
Slaughter everyone. whee.

Hills to the south- terraced wilderness
Going back north leads to ruined town and also the great northern forest
Night music is battle music
Quick dire wolf encounter
There is a fork. It's a very wide and long area, but most of it is not walk-able. Taking the fork leads to a cave, which is a dead end. There's lots of wimins and childrens in there. Also some potions and various thingies. Mostly crossbows and bolts.

Meet up with somebody's father again. He tells them that he hasn't seen this many goblinoids in a raid since the dragon Aerynoth decided to make a nice lair in the orc tribe's main complex of caves thirty years ago. Something must be driving these goblinoids, too.
Stop skirmishes at day break.
Leader/father tells them to heal themselves, points them to the cache of potions, tells them to prepare for the next night.
Level everyone
When night comes, hit them with more orcs, mixing in irregulars.
Make some two archers arrive if the pcs start getting in trouble
Make ogre come, fights father
Father has normal weapon, but is wearing magical armor
he tells them there is an old watch tower on the top of the hill... it could be defended
he dies, hopefully after buffing enough for pcs to kill ogre
break in fighting...
then two ogres plus a bunch of irregulars
pcs ought to flee... make a guy come get them if they don't

hill top to the south-some sort of fort
rest-able--pcs get attacked if they rest during the night
Night music is battle music
inside fort is Quatama's Axe
This gleaming axe continually rings with a mysterious low tone. Quatama was a captain of men who inspired bravery in all who fought beside him. It is said at Quatama's Last Stand, Quatama's patrol of twenty men slew ten dozen of the enemy. Of course, Quatama himself did not live to see the victory...
Increased damage caused to wielder
Decreased saving throw to wielder
Protection from Evil, 15' radius
Some sort of bard-type effect increasing damage, increasing damage resistance of those around. Something like that.
Level them all up again.

Send the orcs and the ogres that night. Hopefully the PCs kill them all. Send an archer to help if things get really fuxored.

Make a trapdoor available, in case they really really sux0r. this will not have a link to the outside, and it will not be lit, except for a shaft of light.

***FIXME***Send two imp-like guys to go kill random hostiles. Upon spotting pcs, let pcs attempt to engage them in conversation. If they do, draw them out, but eventually attack.
upon attack, Make one cackle about the women and children not living for much longer. If they kill them, fine. If not, the trap door.

Branching caves: one branch leads backward, other leads forward. Three or four of these produces a real maze.
Not lit at all
Polymorph a gnome into something for fun.

occasionally run justan over ground pcs are about to walk on

Fundamentally, I want the PCs to rally their race and defend against the attackers, then lead an attack on them

Master of Arms who says how much particular eq costs
Give 'em AI guard dudes.
Hey, alright, Justan is the winner--has ability to charm person!
call him extraplanar whatzit
Killing him only makes him more powerful--demon time! Balor fun! need more inbetween crap

Caves: constant battle music
Traps!
Dead ends
lOop backs
Lots of bad dudes
Shamans
Summoned extraplanar badness

Ruined town:
Burning shit
corpses
Non-restable
Undead of fun!

POE-from which Justan can summon all his buddies.

Schedule events in game time!

Schedule of Events
00-sunset - first attack
01-sunset - second attack. death of ogre
02-sunset - third attack. death of multiple ogres, fight with dudes... drow?
03-sunset - attacks!
05-midnight - Bad guys find wimin and children's cave, take it over.
06-sunset goblins attack second town get cut down
07-sunset orcs attack second town, kill a couple
08-sunset ogres attack second town, kill it off if there aren't any pcs there

Need more locations
At least one other town--big capital for requesting help. should be on other side of massive forest. require at least several days to cross
One other village, fairly nearby
deep forest-lots. should be easy to manufacture

time crunch and player responsiblity
AI following people around?

Maybe an opposing castle by some baron--more like capital city/fort/castle. not helpful
not evil, but not necessarily interested in the attacks restable
*Send goblins their way every night
Now that you've read it, you don't need to play it!
