spell craziness

Post by tasheren »

was browsing through the AH last night and apparently in the Jeuno AH the whm spell "erase" costs 298k-300k. I'm assuming I wasn't too tired and read it wrong. Guess I won't get that any time soon!

actually correction...it's about 400k. I think this is one of the spells that shops don't sell, and can only be dropped by BCNM bosses, thus the ridiculous price. I certainly don't think it's worth that much for what the spell does.

Okay, forgive the n00b, but what's BCNM? (Bad Colossal Named Monster?)

Speaking of NMs, if someone could help me with the S. Gusta. lighthouse it'd be much appreciated (I think the monster is lvl15, I'm currently WAR11)

basically you have to have a "key" to enter these arenas where the bosses live. you can get these keys using beastman seals or something like that. not sure if summons are considered BCNM but you also need a key to fight them.

Apparently Gravity lowers enemies' evade on top of slowing them down.

Gravity just keeps getting better and better.

hmm, except from what i've seen, gravity is almost always resisted. I guess either those mages I was playing with had low lvls of enfeeble magic, or the monsters were too high lvl. same thing with a lot of other enfeeble spells that either I or other mages cast on enemies (and my enfeeble is maxed or near maxed)

Iaei seems to get Gravity to stick a lot somehow, but generally I'd agree with enfeeble spells being resisted a lot. I usually cast Shock before I use Blind and it seems to help lower the resist rates, but I haven't done a careful statistical analysis. Sleep has been getting resisted an awful lot too, even on mobs that only con as Tough. This game needs enchanters to debuff magic resistance...

Dunno, my enfeebles usually stick. I'd say that VT's resist maybe 1 in 10 spells, but IT's resist more, depending on how IT they are.

I haven't noticed Gravity being resisted more often that my other spells either.

I think it has to do with skill ranks. Rdm are skill rank A for enfeeblement, that might have something to do with it. Just like how Blms will always nuke harder than Rdms.

A++!

resisting isnt nearly as fun as missing 8 times in a row only to hit for 0 dmg right after >_<

It's kind of important for me not to waste mp on enfeeble because you never know when the ITs are going to drop a big hit on your party's main tank(s). Seeing how certain enfeeble magic like paralyze, slow, or blind get resisted quite a lot on ITs (like 8 or 9 times out of 10), I tend not to cast them in order to save mp for cures and regen. For some strange reason though, I don't think my Dia ever got resisted...or maybe it has I just didn't notice

I don't know about Dia, but I don't think Bio can be resisted. At least I've never seen it get resisted, even on ITs. Unless it just doesn't tell you if it's resisted...

Rdm are better at enfeebling and can afford to "waste mp" on casting them with a whm doing the healing, which is why we become more important to a party at higher levels. And even more so at level 41 when we get Convert and Refresh.

Dia and Bio can't be resisted.
