repeatable quest mini-guide.

Post by nu »

So I'll probably toss this into a "newbie's guide to bastok" to put on GameFAQs here in a few days, but here's what I've got so far.

* Get 4 flint stones, bring them to Aquillina, the second-to-last eastern house in Gold Street. She takes them between 1100 and 1500. 100g, once per day.

* Get a sleepingshroom, a treant bulb, or a wild onion. Go to the eastern-most house in Market District. The little girl will tell you what she wants right then, and then you can either give that item, or one of the other two, to Salimah for a reward. You can only do the quest once per day.

Sleepingshroom: Midnight - 5:59 (reward = ?? haven't gotten these yet)
Treant Bulb: 6:00 - 12:00 (200g)
Wild Onion: 12:01 - 18:00 (?? need to check) (350g)
One of these, but at wrong time: 100g

* Take four zinc ores to Talib, basement of Warehouse 2 in Port District. Gives you 350g. I think you can do it more than once per day. You can probably sell the ores for more at AH if you're patient, or sell them to someone you know who does smithing.

REQUIRES FAME:
note: fame quests don't just mean you've done a lot of quests, but that you've done several of the repeatables. So if you can't get these, do the above three a bit more.

* Go to Dangruf Wadi, up the north geyser into the long room, and around J-8 get a Dangruf Stone. Bring it to Horatius, in the house next to the music store, in the Market District. Worth 400g. Can only get the stone in clear/sunny weather; not sure if you can do it more than once a day or not.

* Collect Silver Name Tags in Palborough Mines, and bring them to Pakkev in the Mines district (I'll get the gridloc later, but he's in the lower area, should be first door past the information miner galka). 550g.

By day, do you mean gametime or realtime?

Gametime.

Oh, there's another quest that I -think- is repeatable, but am not sure. That's the galka sausage quest, but it does take a realtime hour to do, and all you get is 300g.

I dont know if its worth it to do all these repeatable quests at a given time for only small amounts of gils. As you pointed out sometimes these items can be sold at much higher in auctions, like flintstone, zinc ores etc.

Even though...I read somewhere (can't recall where) there are quests that can only be done if you have done enough repeatable quests...

Right, that's why I listed them; they help build up Fame, so you can get the good quests and such.

Really, a lot of them you get the items for just in the course of levelling. Silver tags you snag in Palborough while getting fetich pieces, flint stones, zinc ores, and bulbs/onions while doing early levels in Gustaberg, Dangruf Stones while doing the Wadi, et cetera.

It's just kind of a reminder to keep an eye out for these items and give them to the proper folk for rewards and such.

another repeatable quest can be found in the mines district from a galka standing on this platform. You collect 3 zehrun (however you spell that word) soots and return it to him for 150 gils. This one doesnt have any stupid time limits.

and if you do write a guide, you might want to add in the map positions of the NPCs. After all if you're writing to newbies, they're probably...newbie :)

Yar, I've gone crazy with the map-markers. I just need to write them down on paper, since.. you know. Alt-tab and all. CURSE YOU, SQUARE.

Didn't know Minesweeper was repeatable. Neat.

Yup it's repeatable without any limits or restrictions.

Hmm maybe we need to write to square and make them fix this unable-to-alt-tab lameness..

one day, I will do every quest there is. that day is when i have enough money to just buy all the needed quest items from an auction house. lol which will never happen. I'll probably end up doing lots of quests when I need to so I can get a quest with good rewards.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

Speaking of quests, where'd you guys find your lizard eggs? Just kill random lizards anywhere, or do they only drop off of certain ones? Or do I actually have to have the quest before they will drop?

Wadi lizards.

Really, though, you don't need to do that quest at all. Its only real purpose is to increase your rank points so you can get Mission 6. But you can also donate extra crystals to get those rank points, and skip 5 altogether (which is what I did).

More quests.

Two higher-level repeatables:

Baldric in the Darksteel Forge in Metalworks wants Sunsand. You get this by examining the ??? spot at the beached boat in Valkurm Dunes, the eastern beaches before Selbina. It only shows up during daylight hours when you've got a duststorm going. 300g. I'm pretty sure you can only carry one Sunsand at a time, but if you're up there, you might as well pick one up for when you come back to town.

Mighty Fist, right next to Baldric, wants darksteel ore (two chunks) from Gusgen Mines. Dunno what the reward on this one is.
