Hmm, after reading that I'm leaning more and more toward WAR instead of MNK. My later goal is still to be a RNG. Ack, decisions, decisions...

Any constructive commentary about whether a WAR or MNK (heck, maybe THF first, if that doesn't detract from Peijen) would be better for the current group would be appreciated (note: my race will be Mithra, so please take that into consideration).

Well, I personally have never grouped with anyone in our LS. So I don't damn know.

Are the reasons bad scheduling/waiting for this weekend?

As a reminder, I'm going to a wedding this weekend, so I won't be around. Also, my mom will be staying until Tuesday morning, so I don't think she'd be especially thrilled by FFXI... ^_^;

We'll have to get a new worldpass, then, because it'll definitely expire by Wednesday.

Mostly it's been that he's lower level than us and we've been killing stuff in dangerous areas. Tho I think I'm going to make a new character (not really digging the mithra for some reason) so I'll be back at the bottom of the heap.

hehe playing with that black mage, I couldnt keep aggro for more than 15 seconds if he kept casting.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

Hooray! Yeah, the combination of starting later and not playing as much has put me too far behind in levels from day one to group with anyone. There's actually almost always someone(s) on when I play, though. So I can listen to them talk about things about which I know nothing.

But, if you start over, Peijen plays some, and Vinny installs the game, there will be a fresh wave of newbies for me to ride. Plus, at some point somebody's gonna hit 18 and do the support job quest.

Yeah, no need to worry just install the game, create a char, and start getting some lvls. There'll almost always be someone to play with once you hit the "its getting hard to level" spot, just don't put off installing the game since that'll just make you more behind.

And there is a way to power-level a bit. You need a white or red mage with decent Cure ability. They hang back and let you kill things, heal as needed, but never actually party up.. Paul helped someone work on that yesterday and it was apparently pretty successful.

Of course that only works for melee chars, I rarely actually lose any HP, unless you can cure my MP too. =P

Once I hit level 18, I will probably switch to White Mage and start leveling up that job to use as a sub-job, so I can help out anyone who is still low level then, but it may be a while.

No, he was assisting a BLM taru.. sound familiar? ;) Obviously the mages have to rest between battles for MP, but it allows you to defeat stuff way harder than you should be able to with someone to keep healing you. Menchi was getting 100-150xp per kill at levels 6-7 which is.. pretty great.

It's all about exp/hr, not exp/kill. The downtime for MP is the killer. But maybe that's faster than doing 50 exp decents. I wonder. Although level 6 is only, what, 1750 to begin with?

Or, I wonder if you could hide the latency of the WHM, at least, by resting whenever you're not healing. Be interesting.

What? Are you telling me the principles of latency hiding taught in computer architecture apply to the "real world"? Nooooo... </sarcasm>

Hmm.. maybe, but I still don't understand. I usually don't even get hit when I fight stuff, but I supposed if I wasn't afraid of getting hit I could try to kill tougher mobs. I can't imagine it makes a huge difference though. Now if there was some spell like Clarity in this game to make my MP regen faster... mmmm...

Red Mages get Refresh at lvl 41. Bards also get an MP regen song.

And Black Mages get a passive ability that lets them recover mp faster naturally I think.

Yea, Black Mages get Clear Mind at level 15 actually, before anyone else! Mwahahaha...

<ahem> Anyway, anyone got any suggestions on where I should go at level 13 to get exp fast and try to catch up to all you bums so I can get exp when I group with you? I hate being so low and feeling useless in a group.
