Board Game: Race for the Galaxy

Post by VLSmooth »

Stream-of-consciousness: Game George owns that Alan, Chuck, George, Jason, Peijen, and I have played.

Red discards Colony Ship.
Red uses Contact Specialist.
Red pays 0 for Rebel Stronghold.

Sounds legal to me!

Also, I just finished my first solo pc game of Race for the Galaxy: 62-36-32 (blue/me, red, green)

Developments FTW!
Having -5 to my development phase when I choose development is quite nice.

I was wondering how you pulled that off, then I notice there's only two AI. Try for five AI it's a lot harder when you can't get the card you want most of the time.

Yes, this is specifically mentioned in the rules on page 5 in the second sentence of the second to last paragraph of the left column.

The game ran out of VP :(

^ Crazy production and Consume x2 with "Trade League" combined with trade powers allowing me to draw 7 cards in a single action with a trade phase. I ended up discarding 8 cards at least once.

Trade + Discard for VP is CRAZY!

6 players: blue/me 91, purple 70, yellow 52, red 35, green 29, cyan 17

For the above game, Damaged Alien Factory (start world), Galactic Bankers, and Deficit Spending were the engine that drove the entire strategy.

Other notes: Produce + consume/trade strategies seem much more effective with more players to choose the phases for you. Also advanced play seems heavily focused on develop/settle denial.

I think I just "beat" Race for the Galaxy

Final score: 80 points (me) vs 40,35,30,23,10. I ended the game with all 6 goals simultaneously.
