Early March for the US! I might actually dust off the PS3 again.

So it actually came in the mail from Amazon using the free shipping on the release date which was surprising, I have opened the box and made sure the game worked, haven't touched it since!

/blame WoW

According to amazon:
Final Fantasy XIII - Shipped - Delivery Estimate: March 13, 2010

I did get this today at least (er, yesterday): Final Fantasy XIII: The Complete Official Guide [Collector's Edition] (Hardcover)
The entire run of 210,000 sold out pretty quick. I'm number 133,373 / 210,000. So close to 1337, yet so far.

Mildly disappointed by the game so far the hour or so i played it. Still the same old japanese emo crap, 'japanese-cool', etc. But its an rpg, and ill finish it someday.

My impression from the trailers was something of a mix between FFX and FFVIII.

I'll probably get it at some point this week.

One hour? You probably reached chapter 2 at best (Incidentally, that's the chapter I'm on!)

Actually I just got past the 1st mini-boss on the bridge when the Main chick tried to fly off and the black dude stops her and /facepalmed.

I beat Mass Effect 2 today (awesome game, buy it), so I picked up FFXIII.

One hour in and here are my impressions.

GAY

GAY

SO GAY

And yet I'll keep playing in the hope it gets slightly less gay eventually.

Alright after 3+ hours new impressions:

The battle system is pretty fun. Skill system seems interesting.

But the characters are still annoying.

We have proved that you can get to chapter 3 in about an hour (was it an hour?)

Close enough. Btw, the difficult definitely ramps up. It took me a few tries to five-star chapter 11's boss.

ps. Upgrade your Whistlewind Scarf to an Aurora Scarf early. It's cheap and kicks ass.

Got my Growth Egg (ie. double team experience) and first Genji Glove before starting Chapter 12 from marks 55 and 62. Although mark 55 used Vanille's death ability, it's still a royal pain in the ass due to the 5 picochus. On the other hand, mark 62 is what epic battles are made of (character deaths, manual shell casting, item usage, paradigm madness, reacting to timed multi-casts, army of one, etc).

Here's my imageshack FF13 album:

It needs better organization, and current only has images from marks 55 and 62 since I just had to take (phone camera) pictures after beating them. Apparently most strategies require beating the game and having 3+ times the hp, a fourth accessory slot, etc.

For those Sazh fans out there, he'll definitely come into play on turtle fights. His blitz and "Cold Blood" can be massively overpowered (if you can live). Heck survivability is why I couldn't use Hope on mark 62, even with 58% magic resistance.

There consensus on the first chapter which is actually fun? Cuz my friend has this and I might check it out if he plays through the dull bits for me.
