D&D Online

Is free!

I'm downloading it now. I have no idea whether it's any good or not.

Haha been too busy to actually play it.

I almost created a character though.

Ars Technica: Dungeons and Dragons Online: behold the power of free

I found it interesting.

Another tidbit:
"The new download technology allows you to get the character generation and the tutorial zone and start playing while the rest is downloading in the background. You can be playing in 30 minutes instead of 4 hours... in order to get to that broader audience we can't abuse them the way the rest of the MMO audience has been abused in the past few years."

I played a little last week, the combat feels more like an offline game than other mmorpgs I've played.

I think it's the same people that made Asheron's Call which I think had a similar style of combat.

My friend Erik has been playing DDO with a party of four others. They are getting sick of their characters and intend to either reroll or play LOTRO (which also went free to play recently). I told him I was kind of interested in trying LOTRO, but if they decide to play DDO I might give it a whirl.

They play Mondays from 7-11pm Pacific, if anyone else is interested in either of those options.

7's too early for me to get home in a reasonable amount of time. 7:30 or 8 and I might give either a whirl. Of course, I probably wouldn't be all that good which means you will likely want me out of the group quickly anyway...

Yeah, I might lean on him for later, too. I will discuss the matter with him.

Well, Erik's guys are talking about EQ2 when it goes free to play (I have not paid attention to EQ2 so I guess that is soon?). Is anyone interested in that action?
