Server!
Most of the ppl I know like in my cs clan/old ac2 guild, etc will probably be playing on the Ragnorok server, plus its probably the most english speaking server out there.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

Jeeb has some blank JP accounts so we are doing some experiment. Creating character over and over and see where we will be random to.
Since Saturrday all the way till yesterday we always end up in only between 2 servers. Bismarck and Valefor.
We did some searching. The minimum players during japanese morning time (PST afternoon) was around 300 and the peak time has around 2,600 players. The world pass costs 650 gil. That's not so empty for me.
BUT.. We continue our experiment this morning and the result changed totally, very dissapointing..... We get random to ALL servers including Ragnarok and Bahamut. And most of the servers, WP cost at least 800 gil. Ragnarok and Bahamut especially WP cost up to 1200 gil.
Not only there's no new server openning up, they don't even care if new NA players to go to over populated worlds now.
after playing on AC2 and low server pops, I'd much rather play on a larger server regardless. I think i read that server pops went from 400 min to 3000 peak, which depending on world size, might be ok) besides, japanese have their “peak” time during our down time so with the flood of englsih players, language shouldnt be much of a problem.
not even sure if its ragnarok or not, but most likely.

I read a post that some guy called POL this morning and asked them about new servers, and they said they were waiting a few weeks before deciding whether to bring them up, depending on how well the US release goes. Also he said that the guy said (yes, very reliable info) they'd provide WPs to NA players who wanted to switch over.
All hearsay. Overall I don't think it'll be a huge deal which server we go to. Ragnarok may have the numbers but overpopulated servers have their own problems. I played DAOC on the highest avg pop server, and while there was always RvR going on (a plus), good spots were always overcamped (a minus), and groups weren't necessarily any easier to find.

so would characters get moved over? or just stating off on a clean server?

which seems to me like, each pass allows up to 5 characters per ACCOUNT, so even whoever starts 1st needs to buy for someone else, who in turn, buys for the next, etc etc until we're all on the server.NOTES
WorldPasses can only be used on ONE ACCOUNT, and the WorldPass will be effective for 7 Earth days from the time the WorldPass was purchased.
A WorldPass for a particular server can only be purchased by someone whom already has a character on that server.
Within the 7 days after the purchase, the account that uses the WorldPass will have the default server set to the server for the WorldPass used for all new character creations.
After the 7 day period, the default server set for all new character creations will be the server of the Primary Anchor Character.
Using the character that purchased the WorldPass, within the 7 day period, you may return to the person who sold you the WorldPass to obtain the same number again, in case you wrote it down incorrectly.

We shouldn't worry too much, the Japanese will welcome us with open arms!
If it is roman type, much Japanese can read. Japanese people welcome the more industrious one.
np. many player read romaji. but write few slow
Many Japanese believe that many of Americans are good sense-people. But, since Japanese people are very cautious, if there is at least one rude person, they will have a superfluous warning. However, if it turns out that you are not rude, they will be kind very much.
I think I remember reading somewhere that they were changing (or have changed already) to allowing up to 5 different accounts with one WP.Dave wrote:which seems to me like, each pass allows up to 5 characters per ACCOUNT, so even whoever starts 1st needs to buy for someone else, who in turn, buys for the next, etc etc until we're all on the server.NOTES
