Final Fantasy XI

Post by Dave »

so who wants to try it next week? huh? huh?

All i know is we cant pick what server we start on w/o going through some weird world pass thingy.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

So we couldn't all play on the same server without jumping through hoops? That sucks.

Reading about the game makes it seem like it's a bit different from other MMORPGs though. Kinda interesting I guess.

Can't currently summon enough interest to wade through more info about a MMORPG. Summarize differences here, or wait a few weeks for my MMORPG neurons to start firing again.

I don't feel like rereading the articles but it seems like it's much more quest-driven than most other ones.

So what I got was that it's kind of like playing a single-player game in a MMORPG world, but I'm not sure how that works out.

I'll wait for the reviews before deciding one way or another. And for this one I definitely don't want to play by myself.

I think the whole idea of the MMORPG is that there are thousands of other people to play with... I could be wrong.

It looks like the way the World Pass is this. The first person doesn't get to choose what server he wants to join. When he creates his character he gets a World Pass ID, basically a password, that he gives to his friend. His friend inputs the ID when he creates his character and gets to play on the same server, and he gets a World Pass ID to give to someone else.

That's the way it seems like it works anyway.

What I read is that a World Pass costs a certain amount of gil... say it's 100. You spend your 100 gil, and you gets a code. You send the code to your friend and he inputs it during character selection. If you want, you buy 10 World Passes and you give codes to 10 friends. I got it from waterthread.org on the FFXI thread.
