Noobship will suffice. If you flew a hull that could escape from random Rifters or stealth bombers we bump into, that'd increase the chances of op success somewhat.

I'm gonna have to use my alt, who has pretty low skills, because Uni prohibits going to sov null. How does this look? Not sure if it's worth putting shields on this ship. Maybe swap out the Beta Hull mod for a warp core stabilizer? Is that worth using in 0.0?

Beta Hull Mod Nanofiber Structure

Upgraded 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Small F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction

Maybe swap out a polycarbon housing for an anti-em rig

Iffa is expensive, no?

I think you want a inertial stabilizer, a pair of aux thrusters, and an agility rig.

Derp I didn't know I was scheduled for a moonlighting shift on Sunday. Doesn't mean I can't play but it'll be up in the air until 5 pm and I could be called away at any moment.

AAR: Taking the slow bus to tuna town 2013-03-14 0200

Alan's top secret alt was positioned to penetrate nullsec at Khabi. I did not care for the camp stats I saw on the map, so I directed him to swing around to Sendaya and try there. At Sendaya, they had a couple pull bubbles off the gate but nothing on gate itself. I directed Alan to make a mid-warp safe out of line with the bubbles. On his way to my clone, I think he bumped into three more bubbles and got locked by a Manticore who didn't get a point on him. He let a couple of solo roamers and one dozen man gang pass him on the way.

Once he was in [REDACTED], I jumped into my clone and boarded the T1 frigate I had stashed for just this day. When we undocked, a Retribution locked us up and we redocked. We tried to wait him out, but he called in a friend so we logged and chatted for about ten minutes. We stormed back into the station simultaneously and undocked and warped to the gate. I suspect the Retribution was ratting so while he was still in system, we never saw him on grid again. He did announce our arrival and someone came to investigate, but Alan warped off to the outbound gate. I just waited until the bad guy jumped into my system then I crossjumped into his system and moved on.

During the thirteen jump trip, we avoided a Curse, a Loki, a Rifter, another dozen man gang, some mess I am likely forgetting, and a gate camp on the Sendaya gate in Doril thanks to superior positioning and Alan's careful construction of pounce safes on all the gates with pull bubbles on them. We slipped out of Doril by way of Alan's mid-warp safe without Alan even seeing the cloaked campers because it was so smooth. My clone is now deposited into TXW, where it belongs, and Alan's alt is back in highsec.

Op success! \o/

Dude, just load up a Rifter for bear and run 'n' gun if you want to solo. Don't worry about optimal whatever. Plus, the Rifter is pretty damn badass.

Yeah he target painted and scrammed me, but no web and since I had an afterburner I was able to slip away without too much trouble.

I also had a warp core stabilizer, if he had tried to point me would I even know?

WCS has strength 1. Scram has strength 2. You can't warp if you have 1 WCS & 1 hostile scram.

Right, but if he had me both pointed and scrammed, and I got out of scram range, would I know if he had his point running?

I decided to get a Firetail for no particularly good reason, and played for more or less the first time since last Wednesday. On my way back, I ran into a lone Rifter 200k off the Bei gate in Hag, and saw one of my corpmates burn toward it. It warped off in the general direction of a planet and customs office, my corpmate announced he was going to the planet so I went to the customs office. As I sat at the customs office trying to locate him on dscan, he warped in on me at zero (I managed to figure out that he was less than 500k away just as he arrived on grid).

I kind of panicked, but managed to keep enough of my composure to scram/web him (yay for extra midslot), and started pew pewing while I tried to announce where I was.

I made the following mistakes
1) I didn't know which customs office I was in
2) I announced I was in a different system than I actually was in
3) I told everyone the "I" had him tackled, and to warp to "me."

After a few people patiently asked who "I" was, I realized I was actually in Hag. It was pretty neck-and-neck as far as who would kill whom (I also had the wrong ammo loaded...), when my corpmate in his Vengeance warped in and finished him off.

So that's it, the first time I kept someone from escaping. If I had the right ammo loaded, I probably could have soloed him. I hope.

Nice!

Were you in some kind of standing fleet?

This is why they recommend learning in something you can afford to lose and not feel worried. :)

Yeah was just in the standing low sec campus fleet. I can actually afford to lose a couple firetails, I just got overexcited about the guy warping right on top of me. I guess overall they aren't worth the cost, but I like how they look.

Also, overheating my guns would've probably been a good idea. Haha.

Have a question for you, I'm debating between the Anti-EM rig and a Core Defense Field Extender - in terms of EHP the field extender wins out but leaves a pretty gaping EM resist hole (12.5% vs 38.7%). What would you tend to lean towards?

[Republic Fleet Firetail, 200mm]
Damage Control II
Gyrostabilizer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Medium Shield Extender II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator
1MN Afterburner II

200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S

Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
