Lacking another thread to post in, I'm just going to put this here. Rote Kapelle gets mentioned by The Mittani, in the same breath as Pandemic Legion, as entities which just want to burn stuff. This is true and also pleasing to see the namecheck. PL (which I was a member of; see previous thread on Snigg fights) is a very large and spacerich entity, whereas we STUGH pilots are older school small gang oriented. I have thought of myself as a space viking for several years now rather than a pirate, so it is doubly pleasing to be recognized as such.

Also, the forums took notice of an April Fools Day prank a couple of STUGH guys cooked up by taking sov in Delve (which goes against the whole purpose of our alliance, which is to burn stuff). Believe me, this is extremely hilarious and made a lot of space entities double check what it was about, which is even more hilarious.

As a heads up, several of my friends have been filling up my IRC chat logs for a few weeks now with Eve chatter (keywords include: mining, hi-sec, lo-sec, scanning with probes, ISK, training, etc).

I've managed to avoid getting sucked into it (for now).

I'm Dwindlehop in game. 10M isk to everyone who hangs out in the Stimulus public channel and sends me an evemail with the code VLSMOOTH in it.

Cuz jeez, if they're mining in high sec they could use the isk. :P

(Also, anyone you personally vouch for who wants to be a space viking I will sponsor into Stimulus. After losing two dozen Rifters he will be made of tritanium.)

How to Carebear
~or~
Everybody Derps, Sometimes

1. Ruri, Von, Dwindle, BobTheCowboy begin to plex
2. ???
3. Profit

With an Agony scout in X-M, the four of us noticed we had probes on us. We advertised in Rote Intel for backup. Formup was prompt, but the Agony fight never spawned because they had eyes in K5. Nothing to be done there. We got a Sabre and Cane drop in on our plex, but they never got within point range and buggered off immediately.

We sent Claire in to get them to fight, but they had moved off gate. He flew casual enough for the locals to decide they wanted to pop him, so they intercepted with on-grid probes. However, logi + numbers > their scrub fleet, and they kept derping into us.

So that part was nice. The bad part was when the four of us when back to finish the plex. I started to write this up while repping (pro, amirite) when they came back into us to finish the job. Local bump was called on TS by :someone: ;) on mute, so I didn't know what was going down until I got pointed.

Fortunately, it was an Ares without a scram. I got away from their main fleet and kept running while everyone else got safe. We got our fleet reformed and warped onto me.
http://www.rotekapelle.com/killboard/?a ... l_id=61271
My Scimitar was permajammed by all the jams they had on grid. Eventually a friendly Vaga got the Ares off me through the jams, but they neuted down Lazr and reps were out of range. Reps got on the BC but went down all the same.

Reshipped and went back, but couldn't spawn a new flight.
Learning: don't fucking post with hostiles in constellation.

Squad: Loki Loki Loki Loki Proteus Phobos Damnation Deimos Deimos Zealot Zealot Zealot Zealot Zealot Zealot Stiletto Guardian Guardian Guardian (Archon)
also we had a couple of rapid-response fleets for responding to invasions of our home system
Targets: assault frigate gang, a T1 BC gang with logistics and ECM, numerous derpy haulers and whatnot
Kills: Hurricane Ferox Harbinger Brutix Hurricane Blackbird Blackbird Wolf Rifter Crane Drake Hurricane Hurricane Navitas Vexor
plus the assault frigate gang
Losses: Malediction
Loot: a fully T2 fit autocannon Hurricane (approximately 70M), various named T1 guns and T2 mods (maybe 10M total?)

I hadn't killed anyone since January because of TOR. Last night was a great way to get back to business after a bunch of mucking around with lightsabers. After six (!) years playing this game, I looted my first ship. Taking people's stuff is ever so satisfying, particularly when it is completely combat-worthy. I don't even need to put new ammo into it or change the rigs. Playing other MMOs reminds me why I like EVE so much.

I really had not intended to kill anyone. I was logged in to do a little shopping for Dan, who is also pretty tired of TOR and giving EVE a spin. Somebody killed a friendly Rapier in our home system, though, so I undocked to join the vengeance fleet. Then I got pulled into another roaming fleet, which started out picking apart an assault frigate gang just outside our home system before even finishing a proper fleet composition. My Sabre bubbled a bunch of bad guys who never even tried to warp away, so I did not get on any of the kills.

When we finally got our pants put on properly, I had volunteered to fly logistics---I was one of three Guardian pilots in our 20 man fleet. We didn't find a proper fight until we were on our way home, when we received intel about a proper fleet approaching us from the rear. Our FC turned us around and got our scout to give us a rundown of their fleet comp. They outnumbered us a tiny bit, had 5 logistics to our 3, and had a Rook and 2 Blackbirds on grid. We were substantially tankier in our mixed heavy assault cruiser/strategic cruiser gang, but they'd have the edge in DPS and jams. Our FC was deeply suspicious about their ECM capabilities and figured they would try to jam our Guardians using ECM boats they weren't showing. As a result, one of our pilots clone jumped back home to get into a triage Archon, which is a logistics carrier which is more difficult to jam than a Guardian is. We shuffled around our pilots and engaged, minus one Guardian but with the Archon on standby.

Sure enough, they had two cloaked Falcons uncloak plus a large number of flights of ECM drones. However, we dropped a cynosaural field and brought in our triage Archon immediately. I was jammed for forty seconds about thirty seconds into the fight, but the repping I was able to do before I was jammed plus the other Guardian and Archon kept their first primary from dropping. They never even got close on another target, and had to bail. Apparently one pilot was so eager to bail he abandoned his Hurricane in space to warp off in his pod. Our FC called for dps to ignore the empty ship, and we dropped six other ships without any losses before the hostile fleet got clear of grid. One of our pilots quickly exited his ship, piloted the empty Hurricane into the carrier, left it there, and got back into his ship. Our Archon pilot cynoed out to our home system and the rest of the fleet made in back through real space without incident.

As I have alluded to, several of our FCs give loot to the logistics pilots rather than distribute it equally, so as to encourage pilots to fly logistics. As a result, when we split the loot between the logistics pilots, I got the Hurricane we stashed in the carrier. I was actually thinking about buying another Hurricane when I logged in, so getting everything I wanted served up to me on silver platter with a side of fun was just awesome. Heal2crush.

Hey, I found a tool to post maps!
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route/TXW-EI: ... -VD:TXW-EI
Here's our route for the roam I mentioned above.

Those are the two closest engagements we had to "battles".
http://www.rotekapelle.com/killboard/?a ... l_id=68298
http://www.rotekapelle.com/killboard/?a ... adjacent=1
Now that I check, though, we lost more than the Malediction. We also lost an Ares. The first interceptor was soloed and the second was taken out by two cruisers.
Edit: So that's not true. The Ares was lost on Friday (as was another Malediction, which is why I got confused). Friday was less exciting. We went out, didn't get the fleet shot, but kept losing our scouts.

I don't remember having this much fun the last time I played Eve. I finished the combat related tutorial missions, moving onto the Exploration and Business ones now. Is it worth doing the Industry one? I don't particularly want to mine at any point in my life.

Is a neural remap worth doing?

I have no idea about the Industry tutorial. The last tutorial I tried was six years ago. They've redone them four times since. Basically, I would do it if you find that to be an interesting part of the game, but ignorance of industry will not harm you in any way.

Save the remap for later. While you are still training double speed, it does not buy you much. Once you are training regular speed, then you can shave a month off a year's training plan with a properly placed remap.

Did you stop logging in yet?

Before your trial expires it would be good if you could scout my clone out from its undisclosed location in Curse. Thursday, perhaps?

Ripard (the author of Jester's Trek) is in my alliance and a good writer. I keep him in my RSS feeds both for his insight and for his reporting of goings-on. Might be worth your time to check out.

I decided to sub before my trial was up (I don't remember why, there was something I couldn't do with a trial account). I'm finishing up the Sisters of EVE epic arc and applied to join Eve Uni.

What does it mean to scout your clone out? I can't do Thursday though, have plans.

I have a jump clone with augmentations in the region of Curse. Curse is a 0.0 region not occupied by friendly forces. I left the jump clone down there the last time we had a road trip to Curse that I attended. The augmentations in the clone have appreciated significantly in value since I applied them, largely due to the bot-farm-busting activities of the developer team. I had perhaps only a Sabre in the area and I think I may have already lost it in a previous failed attempt at retrieving this clone. Regardless, I am very light on hardware in this region and definitely do not own anything that I would be comfortable piloting out of Curse solo. This clone has been more or less trapped in Curse for probably two years by now, so there is no rush --- if you're going to be playing this game. I would like your assistance, as a character in a ship neither of which have any particular value, to take the point position for my journey out of Curse. If we run into anything scary, they'll engage you, giving me time to dock up or otherwise make myself safe.
