This is exactly the same as when you enable a weapon skill and the baddy moves away. you lose all your tp and dont do jack
In case anyone else is going to be a tank

I dunno if anyone is going to be PLD since i think every other class becomes just dmg dealer, but one trick the japanese use to take out IT baddies is havethe tank "run" as soon as the baddy readies its weapon skill. THis works for all the AoEs that are player targeted (such as dancing weapons aoe stun, etc). This doesnt work on Goblin Bombs, but those can be sheild bashed while its being readied.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

I've done this successfully a few times myself (to the dismay of several WHM that said it was harder to target me). I'd like to add that once you see it being readied, continue to run until said weapon skill goes off. Backing off a little doesn't work most of the time, since ranges in this game are huge.
yea, if the main tank loses aggro, then everyone gets fuxored. Though I hear with the new changes to backstab, tanks & thfs get fuxored

heh also figured out that PLD's Sentinal and Shield bash generate about the same aggro as a provoke. Usually I can keep aggro even through curagas and divine sealed cures, esp with a THF, but sometimes I need to chain all 3 to pry aggro back hehe.

Two more provoke tidbits:
- It seems aggro definitely is a counter and not a rate, so it's good for the primary tank to always provoke every 30 seconds.
- Learned a provoke trick:This is great when there are two tanks, since the Provoke in 15 seconds tells them to provoke for a perfect overlap, and (provided both tanks deal/take about the same damage) ensures damage spreading.
Code: Select all
/p Provoking <t> /ja "Provoke" /wait 15 /p "Provoke in 15 seconds" /wait 15 /echo "Provoke Ready"

Regarding the:I actually notice a lot of Japanese players doing this, so I don't think they consider it spamming...
Code: Select all
/p "Provoke in 15 seconds"
