Rank 2 missions.

Okay.. take the Lizard Egg one. The Emissary wants you to get to both Windurst and San d'Oria. This is pretty much a lost cause, I think, unless you've got chocobo power. So don't make my mistake, go for the easy one first. =/

ye alizard egg is optional. basically its just there for you to do until you have enough rank to get the emmisary. I basically bought 3 eggs and turned them in until I could get emmisary. hehe.

well you need to get more rank to get the next "Required" mission so its either doing the optional ones or turning in crystals.

hmm so the "optional ones" are equivalent to "turning in crytals?" I've been turning in crystals for days now and the bar is only half way full, hehe..and who do you talk to to do the optional ones?

Either the guard at the Port gate or the guy outside the President's office.

to get the option one you still need to turn some crystals in hehe

The two optional missions are activated once you hit rank 2.25 and 2.5.

And you can get the next required one at 2.75.

I think.

ah ok..yeah I guess I'm rank 2.5 now. I remember the guards tellng me I can do some other optional stuff or turn in crystals, just not sure if I was suposed to talk to them again for the optional ones. been turning in crappy crystals ever since hehe
