Bush Lets U.S. Spy on Callers Without Courts

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 - Months after the Sept. 11 attacks, President Bush secretly authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on Americans and others inside the United States to search for evidence of terrorist activity without the court-approved warrants ordinarily required for domestic spying, according to government officials.

Certain constitutional scholars are calling this an impeachable offense. Not that the Republican-controlled Congress would ever, you know, respect the rule of law.

Here's a decent form of action: write your congresspeople! Pick from the House of Representatives or the Senate.

While you're at it, you may wish to mention your opposition to the Digital Transition Content Security Act, which revives the broadcast flag and extends it to all video, not just digital video. Not in the same league as executives spying on Americans without warrants, but a danger to freedom nonetheless.
