I was thinking about this the other day. The success of iPod, apple refusing to work with other hardware manufacture, and Microsoft entering the field who is very good at working with their partners. For all the evil of Microsoft, it does one thing right, taking good care of their partners.

So, we will see a repeat of Mac with iPod, or will Apple realized what's going to happen and stop been an ass before it's too late?

Eventually Dell, et al. will get their act together and throw something together that is almost as usable as the iPod and is much cheaper. It probably helps if there is a decent alternative to the ITMS at that time.

I don't see the HP-branded iPod as being enough of a clone market. Either they have to let other music stores join the party by licensing FairPlay or they have to let clone iPods pop up. Otherwise they'll get beaten into the ground over the long run.

One small caveat: the long run could be especially long in this case. Particularly if Jobs can hammer out some kind of deal with the movie/television people like he did with the music people. iTV would keep iPod (or some descendant) kicking along for a while.

yea, but if they play their cards right like MS or even EA they can corner the market for a long ass time. I've stopped caring about cool, expensive gadgets a long time ago. including cars, palmpilots, cell phone/camera/printer/scanner all in one.

Winamp has a free webradio with all the normal genres like on cable/satellight radio/etc. My fav is chick rock. beacuse ...
