Hey George

Remember the series The Twilight Giants that you read the first two books of, but not the third because I didn't have it? Well, I have the 3rd book now. Anyways, it's kinda fitting that you wait a while to read it since it jumps ahead in time a year or two from the first two books.

Heh, reading a story in "realtime" is interesting. Too bad epics that span hundreds and thousands of years might suck...

The sad thing is that I really don't remember enough about the series to care about how it ends.

That's happened to me with a couple other series. I read a couple books and then have to wait a year for the next one. When the the book comes out, it takes me half the book to start caring again. Some authors (David Weber and Harry Turtledove especially) write their books such that I can jump right back in to a series I haven't read in a year. Other authors (Goodkind and recently Robert Jordan) write series that are almost painful to go back to. Then there are the weird authors that vary by series. I spent a couple weeks slogging through David Drake's latest King of the Isles book. I finished that and found a copy of the latest book in one of his other series (Lt. Leary Commanding) and haven't been able to put it down.

At least Joe came through in the end (even if I no longer care). I'm still waiting for Vinny to get me the rest of Gundam X.

And we all know I said I'd get you Gundam X, even though I've never watched Gundam nor seriously collected it, right? </sarcasm> 8)

Actually, you were the one who provided the Gundam X episodes I saw. But why would I assume that you would get the whole series? Getting only half of a series and stopping makes perfect sense. </sarcasm>

Actually Vinny gets about 5 eps, and 2394654610 music video related to the series.

Of course it does. The episodes were acquired as a sampler. If I was interested, I'd have made the effort to procure more, however I never watched it, therefore didn't generate enough interest to do so.

On the other hand, George did watch it, and if he was interested enough he would've taken sufficient steps to obtain it himself. Since George didn't, his interest was insufficient. Thus, there is no problem and this experience was a demonstration of stating the obvious.

Fun fun.

Edit: replaced "you" with "George" and masculine pronouns to avoid ambiguity (I'm not inclined to check if I made a mistake, so don't ask)

But... but... music videos are purdy! (and good ones introduce me to new music more often than not...)

Does Vinny experience anything in this world without it being filtered through anime first?

I'm too lazy to even attempt to figure out the answer to that question so I'll just say "Maybe".

Which of course means, "No, because I experience half of it through FFXI."

I really want to make a comment about how sad that is, but I can't think of anything that quite captures the magnitude of it...

On the contrary, my sufficient steps were demanding that you get it.

No, he only gets exactly enough music videos, screen captures, opening movies, and credits to exactly fill the CD, not wasting a single bit. Although, now that he has a DVD burner your number of music videos may be more accurate.

That would work if you allowed yourself to download more than one song by a band. I remember how annoyed you were when I gave you the Gravity Kills album in mp3 and you forced yourself to delete all but three songs even though you liked most of them.

How does a thread titled "Hey George" turn into a thread about vinny's anime?

Its proof of the theory of evolution. Obviously discussion of Vinny's abnormal anime habits is better able to survive, and even thrive, in the environment of the bulletin board. Posts about Vinny simply displaced the less fit posts about the book, because they were more effective in competing for our interest, and thus replies. Natural selection at its finest. Maybe...

My other theory is that the universe has a natural tendency towards disorder, heat energy, and discussing Vinny. If two or more people talk long enough, they will either make fun of Vinny, or spontaneously combust.

Heh, I need to make more fun of Vinny so I don't spontaneously combust... Luckily, the english "or" is more like an "xor" and not a true "or"

Wow, I just realized this had a second page.

Is there an option to increase the number of posts per page?
