I ended up with a C in that class, no curve if I remember right. I got an A on the project and a D on the final. And I actually contributed pretty much 50% to that project too.

I was simply amazing.

Re: Winter Break Closing Violation

During the 2001 Winter Break Closing Inspections and the Health and Safety
Inspections conducted immediately following the close of housing for the
semester, it was noted that you had four swords in your apartment. As you
should know, the University does not permit weapons of any type on campus or
in our housing facilities. You are being held responsible for this policy
violation.

Our standard procedure for a weapons policy violation is to have the weapon
confiscated by campus police. Tom Brooks, Dan Askin, both Facilities
Coordinators with Housing Services, and I were the staff members who
inspected your apartment and contacted campus police to have the weapons
confiscated. Officer Adams responded, collected the four swords and placed
them in the campus police evidence locker, where they have been kept locked
since December 21, 2001. I will need to meet with each of you to mediate
this policy violation and discuss the process for returning these items to
you. They will not be permitted to return to campus or our housing
facilities. Please contact me to schedule this meeting. I can be reached in
the Student Activities Office at 8-8704. I look forward to meeting you and
resolving this situation.

Sincerely,
Jamie Rossi

Man some people are dumb.

Subject: CRIME ALERT #2003-5 - Theft by Deception, Simple Assault
Date: October 7, 2003 4:52:11 PM EDT
To: undisclosed-recipients: ;
*2003-5

October 7, 2003

THEFT BY DECEPTION; SIMPLE ASSAULT

At approximately 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4th, a Carnegie Mellon University student was walking west on Margaret Morrison Street toward the laundry in Margaret Morrison Plaza Storefronts when a suspect pulled up in a car and asked him for change. The suspect said he needed change for a $50 bill because the gas station he had stopped at would not accept large denominations. The student gave the suspect $30 in U.S. currency. The suspect returned what appeared to be U.S. currency but was in fact $5 Euro. When the student tried to get his money back, the suspect punched him several times, got into the car, and fled the scene. The student victim suffered very minor injuries not requiring medical attention.

The suspect in the case is described as:

An African-American male, 29-31 years old
Medium build, 170 lbs., approximately 6 feet tall
Wearing a white shirt, jeans, and a navy blue NY Yankees ball cap
Operating a 2003 Hyundai, white in color
Displaying PA registration FBR 7573

If you see this suspect or the above described vehicle, please call Carnegie Mellon University Police at (412) 268-2323 or City Police at 911 immediately! If you have any information that might assist police in this case, call Detective Martin White at (412) 268 ? 6232.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS:

Ø If you are accosted by a stranger, especially one who approaches in a vehicle, be very suspicious of even the most plausible story. Scam artists count on most people to be sympathetic to others in need or in a difficult predicament.
Ø Depending on store/company policy, gas stations in the Pittsburgh region generally will give change for denominations up to US$50, at least until dark or before 11:00 P.M.
Ø If you don’t know the person, DO NOT give him/her any money!! Don’t let the con artist pressure you - Just walk away and call the police immediately.

I got a notice like that! Except that my swords were practice swords, so they're tin or something, and not sharp. But the guy inspecting said "they looked sharp to me", and they said I couldn't have them in view anymore.

Down the street from me, there's a new store where Squill Hardware used to be. Dollar Store and Asian Gifts. What kind of combination is that? Anyway, they have really cheap swords, 440 steel. Cheap like $30 for a pair. I'm wondering whether I should get a set.

Bob, two of the swords they confiscated from me were the flimsy ones we bought together. The other two were similarly non-sharp, but made of somewhat tougher material. Mine were seen by a housing idiot who freaked and called the police. The cop obviously didn't give a damn about investigating, and simply grabbed the lot. Then, even after I called Housing, Student Life, and the police and convinced all of them that the swords were harmless, they all came to the conclusion that because the swords had been confiscated, I still shouldn't be allowed to have them. The last thing I did before leaving Pittsburgh was go to the police station to reclaim them from the evidence locker. The dumbasses had spilled something on them months before and never bothered to clean it up. Somehow, having that as my final memory of Pittsburgh/CMU seemed fitting.

Well, I forgot more than just Neal I suppose

Dave's character: Because I charmed it and told it to distract the dwarf
I'm stealing from.

Vinny's character: I'm not sure but I better magic missile it from a safe
distance to be on the safe side. No invisible chicken is going to
critically backstab me again.

Joe's old character: Because the chicken was a fool. I'm staying on this
side of the road where it's safe... Wait... What's that gnoll doing here?

My old character: Did I see the chicken cross the road? Do I know that the
great wyrm is about to eat it? Then I rush into combat to save the
chicken's life. Stupid fucking chicken...

Alan and Jason's old characters: The chicken is across the road? This is
the opportunity we've been waiting for! We break into the chicken's house
and rob it blind.

Pei Jen's old character: I whip the chicken to prevent it from crossing the
road. That's worth a check on my whip, right?

Neal's old character: I make a ropes proficiency check to determine what
the chicken is thinking.

Ok, now you know what Jason and Joe know. Now for what I know.

MONEY!!!!!
CP: 12429

EP: 211
GP: 7764
PP: 900
Gems: 43271 (No that's not a decimal point error)
GRAND TOTAL OF THIS PRIZE PACKAGE: 56643 gp!!!

Magic stuff (IDed by grateful dwarven mages/priests/fighters/something
in exchange for the treasured book of golems)
Potion of Healing (1 dose)
Ring of Warmth
Turquoise with continual light cast on it
Ring of Water Adaptation
Potion of Invulnerability (1 dose)
Shield of Absorption +2
Diadem of Though Draining (Left with the dwarves to determine how best
to destroy this horrible thing)
Render (Left in the crevasse in case Vinny wants to go back for it. You
made a good team)
Protection from Gas Scroll (usable by any class)
Dagger +3
Cloak of Displacement (Dwarf sized)
Ring of Clear Thought
Rod of Protection (Broken by a bad ID attempt. Sorry)
Huptzeen (The dwarves suggest that you leave this strange thing with
them since it's uncertain as to what it is. You agree with them and
leave it to protect the DM from the headache of Jason finding Pei Jen
has a better staff than he does.)
Poison Dagger +1 x2 (Destroyed by the dwarves as tools of evil)
Ring of Icebolts (1d4 pts of damage, 100 yard range, charged faintly)
Wand of Secret Door and Trap Detection (charged weakly)
Gargoyle Cloak
Golem Manual (Left with the dwarves cuz you're not going to use it)
Helm of Bravery --\
Dwarven plate mail |-----(You decide to leave Drull's gear
with the grieving dwarven
Hand Axe of Throwing +1--/ king. However, you get a set of
plate mail to replace it)
Scroll (Meld into stone, slow poison, stone shape)
Potion of Extra Healing (2 doses)
Platinum Medals x3 (Non magical, but had to be listed)
Ioun Stone (+1 str)
Ioun Stone (+1 prot)
Ioun Stone (No need for air)
Hammer of Vitroin (Informs you that while it had fun, it's place is
defending the dwarves of Underduin. Also, it tells you it wants a
wielder who can keep it in his hand for more than a round. Left with
the dwarves of Underduin)

The bad news (isn't there always bad news): Pei Jen's sword reminds you
that much of the gem/coin treasure was looted from the dwarven treasure
chamber and that it's rightful owners are here in Underduin. So, being
heroic types, you return most of the money. And the gems. Sigh.
However, being on the dwarves' extremely good sides, if there is any non
magical equipment, (or maybe some weak magical stuff) they have you
want, it's yours for free. Dwarves do make high quality metal work
which may have non magical bonuses.

You still have a crapload of useful stuff even after my attempt to avoid
Joe and Jason lynching me. Each of you held a new intelligent weapon,
used it, and chose to give it up (well, you may not have chosen to, but
your characters did, so there). You have ioun stones (keep those
concealed so as too maximize the surprise value, heh heh), four rings, a
broken rod (oops), potions, any non magical armor you can name, scrolls,
cloaks, etc. Quite a haul.

So are you keeping what you have or trading it for what's behind DOOR
NUMBER THREE? Oh, you should have kept it. Door number three concealed
a hoard of beholders. Zap! Munch munch munch...

Could be worse. Here are some that most people on the floor won't even get.

Quellinth: I don't know, but I'll ask it.

Goran: Hic...

Ghendorf: Joe, is this another of your stupid quests?

Nalas: Who cares? I turn invisible and look up her... Oh, you said chickEN

The DM: Umm, I hadn't really figured out why yet. Give me a few months to
think about it.

The previous DM: Wait, never mind. The chicken didn't actually cross the road
at all. Besides, there aren't any chickens in Fifth Age. What? Didn't I
mention we're in Fifth Age?

If four people on this floor understand this (besides myself) I will be
impressed.
If one other person on this floor finds this funny (including myself) I will be
impressed.

what's this again, this is your campaign after vinny's? was this the time when we when to the castle with morphed dwarves, where few of them were beaten into pulp before we realize it or is it something else?

haha, yes. There were interesting things I wanted to do, and the group would eventually be able to lead armies to fight with the different kingdoms. Unfortunately, I let the group (besides George hehe) grow in power too fast.

George's character could have been good, since he would've been the power broker of the group. Not to mention an apprentice with shit load of money (the goal was for George to realize the old man will get in his way and kill him while no-one is watching)!! Only if I wasn't so lazy to do more 1 on 1 sessions hehe.

Yep, it was the dwarf adventure that Joe and Jason were never made aware of. As I recall, your character had a strongly lawful intelligent sword before the adventure. That was probably why your character ended up drifting to the lawful side at the end.

Peijen wrote:George's character could have been good.
Yeah, for the first five levels or so I had the highest thieving skills in the group (Drow dex bonuses rule). Unfortunately, I was never able to use them, because I couldn't reveal my true class. I figured that someone in the party would realize that I wasn't a mage within the first couple adventures, and then I'd thereafter be free to be a rogue. To compound the problem, my character had high scores in all of the charisma based skills (bluff, diplomacy, sense motive, etc), but Dave killed every NPC before I had a chance to talk to them.
