Some good stuff coming down the pipe or available now!
- 7nm graphics cards this year, finally
- Zen2 Ryzen looking v. fancy with core counts and throughput
- 5L - 10L NUC enclosures should offer tower-sized performance in a pint-sized package

The GTX 3080 cards are expected in June.

Probably 7nm Radeon will come out in a similar timeframe.
Worth noting that PS5 and Xbox Series X will both be a custom AMD 8C Zen2 CPU, which is a huge step up in CPU perf vs. current gen console. I think it's a safe bet that game perf scaling with core count will become more commonplace. There's only a handful of titles that can really use more than 8 cores today. It's entirely possible that AAA titles which actually can't run on mobile computers will begin to trickle into the market, but we'll see about that. I'm fairly impressed by Unity & Unreal's ability to scale content nowadays, so maybe studios just quickly retarget their assets for reduced capability machines, but there will inevitably be some next-gen games which use the CPU for real gameplay effects.
Today, my home machine is 4C with 1080p monitor. I'm definitely thinking it's time for an upgrade.

If your old CPU is old like mine (2700K), then you're safe... Don't upgrade to anything except the latest gen. Or are you gonna go AMD?!

I get 50% off of MSRP so it's a tough price point for AMD.

Big problem with my previous posted: all the Nvidia cards launched thus far are for 650W or bigger PSUs!
However, looking at the Founders Edition card, I am guessing the 225W cards won't really be 4K@60FPS, which is what I'm in the market for. Even the 3070 can't do that at max settings, but if I reduce quality a bit it should be ok.
This is the first 3070 I've found that is advertising quiet fans. I'm definitely in the mood for a monitor upgrade due to COVID and WFH, so I may drop some money on a new box.
