128GB version of the drive above is on sale for $70 AR + tax. If you're in a no tax state, then it's just under $0.55/GB

240GB for $140 AR and you get a $20 newegg gift card so effectively $0.50/GB plus tax.

OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive w/ SATA III, 6Gbps Interface, $54.99 After $20 Mail-In Rebate!
$0.46/GB

Logarithmic regression line for the this and the past 3 data points (R**2=.975), suggest that we'll be at $0.10/GB in ~90 days :!: I love abusing statistics :P

Actually with the economy the way it is and Black Friday/Cyber Monday coming in that timeframe, who knows, it might actually happen...

Also, a 2nd order polynomial fit has a slightly better R^2 and predicts we're near bottom in pricing and we're in for a big rebound starting in a few more days.

A power series fit has only a slightly worse R^2 and predicts 2 more years to hit the magic $0.10/GB (=$100/TB) and about half a year to hit $0.20/GB

Code: Select all

Data Used:
Day Price/GB
15	0.625
21	0.55
23	0.5
29	0.46

You should do it without the mail in rebates since they assume only half of those get submitted

How about I do it with only half the MIR value instead?

Anyways, $50 for 120GB here: http://www.techbargains.com/news_displa ... source=291
$50/120GB = $0.42/GB
the data point would be 37 -> 0.42

Logarithmic fits best with R^2=.983 and now suggests ~150 more days to hit $0.20/GB

without the necessary NAND flash coming in to build the drives, the firm will be falling short on revenues this quarter

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6372/memo ... ith-gskill
When the requests came in for a comparison of memory kits available on the market, I was stumped to find real-world examples where memory truly matters by significant margins, and benchmarks to match. Fast forward a month or so, and we have compiled a series of tests taking advantage of some of the most memory limited examples common to most users – IGP performance using memory from DDR3-1333 to DDR3-2400.
Discrete graphics card? Buy cheap memory.

I get the feeling I will buy it and never play it.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.
