I feel compelled to post that the Two Towers Extended Edition special features has a whole bit about how the Internet rumors about Arwen being some kind of elven ninja princess were completely true. Liv Tyler spent months training with a sword. They actually shot footage of her fighting at Helm's Deep. In theory, they used a shot from that sequence in the actual movie and Arwen can be seen as a flash of red cloak in the background. The backlash from the Internet about this was so great that they sat down and reworked Arwen's character and so saved the movie. Hooray.
Well, that write-up will probably diverge from the merely unfortunate and scandalous to the actually criminal, given Alan's ever-advancing age with respect to the age of consent.
