A quarter of the country thinks Obama wasn't born in Hawaii. How do you reason with those people? How do you govern them? Forget Obama; forget party affiliation. How does any reasonable person (such as Republican Governor Linda Lingle, apparently) govern a population of unreasonable people?

Is this because of the death of the newspaper? Or was it always like this?

Even educated people just ignore facts, like this mortgage bank CEO. To many, it's their "gut" that determines truthiness, not their brain determining actual truth. It's definitely a scary world we live in and the intelligentsia should beware torches and pitchforks.
