Probably gonna buy some new headphones w/mike. Any recommendations?

Is there any earthly reason to pay for 7.1 (or pick your number of channels >2) for headphones?

Re: headphones
From a quick glance, it seems you've picked a winner.
"Simulates" 7.1 eh? Seems that it translates a 7.1 source to work with 2 speakers instead of using a (downgraded) simple 2.0 stereo source. The extra information allows it to better produce a broad soundstage. I'd say it's a nice to have, especially for gaming.
Edit: s/it'd/it's/;

Re: headphones
How can it possibly do that when it is two speakers directly in my damn ear?
I don't think I'll pay $200 for headphones. $80, if they're super sweet. I was thinking good enough would be like $40.

http://blog.logitech.com/2009/05/06/log ... -the-hood/Although I have not personally tested the G35 on Linux, I am told that the performance is mixed – and without the Logitech software installed, you would lose the advanced features of the G35 anyway (Dolby Headphone 7.1, voice morphing, mic mute, G button functions, etc..). So unfortunately we can\’t recommend the G35 today as a Linux product.
Didn't even realize USB was an option for audio out.
