Who here has purchased Trillian?
Just curious, since I'm seriously thinking about it. I'm also wondering if I can run it both at home and at work by paying once, or will I need to pay twice (ie. I don't know if it phones home, although I'm pretty sure it doesn't).
Any comments?

The three biggest motivations I have for buying it are:
- Jabber support via a plug-in.
We use jabber at work, and I've gotta say the default client sucks ass, especially with crazy focus-stealing AND minimization. - History in the same chat window.
Instead of having to open up a clunky log window. - A warm fuzzy feeling.
Er, no comment.

Yep, I've seen Gaim in person (haven't used it myself), but its interface just doesn't seem to be as slick or clean as trillian's (yes, I know about themes). Also, the in-window history, although minor, is incredibly useful.Dwindlehop wrote:Besides... Gaim.
Nonetheless, I'll try gaim first before making a purchasing decision.

As if people didn't already know... (yes, with trillian I use blowfish encryption). Investigating gaim-e now...
(the video highlight is a nice tidbit)

Dammit. Ok, I might go back to trillian now. I don't know how to explain it, but Gaim's interface is simply lacking compared to Trillian. This is after much font tweaking, both with in Gaim itself and the GTK.
(fyi, window gtk font tweaking's default path is here: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\GTK\2.0\etc\gtk-2.0\gtkrc")
There's also the issue of Gaim taking up over 11 MB of memory (no doubt due to the GTK), whereas Trillian uses less than 3 (fun with Windows graphic libraries). Since Gaim would be the only application using the GTK, it seems overly excessive.
Still, I find the elusive interface issue to be more significant -_-
note: it's also stupid to have to re-install Gaim to get encryption support.
