Heh, maybe, but online orders are easy to freeze.

Oh, and so this isn't just a links thread cluttering post (even though this isn't a link either), I just spent ~1 hour digging through misc.market. Call it what you will, but there is quite a bit of interesting/amusing banter out there. This was an amusing two-parter:

<rant>

I am so SICK AND TIRED of guys complaining about women at CMU (or the lack thereof). If you see someone & you're attracted her, then go and *talk to her*. Yes, even if it's in the cluster. You're a big boy, you're capable of some form of communication. Nobody's going to tear your arms off for just saying hello. And it's infinitely more productive than stalking someone for weeks/months without ever saying a word.

You're losing the ratio excuse, guys. There are so many more women around than there ever were-- and no, not just because of prioritized admission or some BS like that. And not all of us are obsessed with money or posessions-- no more than the how many males are obsessed with money or posessions.

You need to try sticking your neck out rather than not trying and blaming the women/ lack thereof/ attributes of the women around here for your lack of play. How many times have I heard guys complain that, in the parlance of our times, they're not getting laid, and then go on to critique every minute flaw of some random woman? Or the guys that *always* manage to disparage women at CMU when comparing them to women at Pitt? If maybe you were a little realistic about dating, you might be seeing some more action. And no one's going to drop into your lap. You have to make some kind of attempt.

</rant>

Don't get me started first thing in the morning with a pity-me-I'm-a-guy-who's-not-getting-any post. Oh, and attitudes like "I graduated from CMU, I'm a god" are a total turn-off.

vinny, you need to grow out of CMU. I think I will include you in the next challenge just for some free money. And I will post a short write up about the last one eventually.

And not all of us are obsessed with money or posessions-- no more than the how many males are obsessed with money or posessions.
Women (on average) aren't obsessed with getting their own money and possessions. Men are.

Men (on average) aren't obsessed with a potential mate's money or possessions. Women are.

Feminism shmeninism. It's human nature. Women want a male with money and power to help raise her kids. At the same time they want a hunky guy's genes so they cheat on their multimillionaire husbands. Men want young women who are attractive and healthy. At the same time they want...even more young women who are attractive and healthy. That's cause men want to spread their genes out as much as possible.

I'm not cynical at all I swear.

You could take that one step further and just say that we exist only for the benefit of the genes we're spreading and mixing (well those of us who play the mating game at least).

Basically yeah. Genes that didn't cause us to do so would go extinct.

yep. even the dnd group we play with has started ranting at him. he doesn't clean his apartment, even when company is coming over, he still isn't awake at normal hours, and he doesn't eat well.

just so that this entire thread doesn't rip on him, he does let us play at his place and buys food and drinks for the meetings without anyone reimbursing him.

Vinny, unless you have some desire to die before you turn 60, you've gotta start sleeping on some kind of regular schedule and eating some semblance of a healthy diet.

Actually forget 60, if you want to make it to 50 you should change some of your habits.

Okay, you asked for it. (ie. more information than you ever really wanted to know)
  • He Doesn't clean his apartment, even when company is coming over.

    What do you consider, not clean? I throw out trash every 1.5 weeks or so (notice things definitely aren't there 2 weeks), I vacuum about twice a month, I don't allow shoes in the apartment, I don't leave shit all over the living room, my desk is clean, I watch my dishes (with the exception of the pot, which I wash when needed, which is often) my refrigerator "had" one spoiled piece of food (which has since disappeared), I actually clean my bathroom, etc. Maybe the amount of effort seems miniscule because I don't really generate much of a mess?

    Compared to CMU, this is "filthy" clean. Regarding the, "even when company is coming over", it'd be different if people offered to help to clean up after their own mess. On the other hand, Steve offered to take out the trash last session, which is more than anyway else did, and I'm grateful for that (hopefully it's a trend).
  • He isn't awake at normal hours.

    Whoop dee fucking do. Normal is in the eye of the beholder. If I'm inaccessible, that's bad. However, I rarely miss scheduled events (exception, got to Baltimore late meeting George), so that's not an issue. Admittedly, I typically sleep ~5-6 hours a night, which I occasionally offset with naps and the weekend. The 8 hour thing will kick-in soon enough, but I'd rather my body take it gradually and adapt than force/shock it to change drastically.
  • He doesn't eat well.

    Okay, this one holds a lot more weight than the others. I typically eat one to two, albeit large, meals a day. However, I attribute this to lack of appetite derived from lack of exercise. Even at CMU I was accustomed to walking a bare minimum of 30 minutes a day and 3 flights of stairs (bonus!), often times much more. The soccer (biweekly) and volleyball (season ended) and one ultimate game over the course of ~4 months still can't come close to matching that. Hopefully, a new exercise bike will help increase/spread out my appetite so I eat more overall, but in multiple sessions.

    The type of food I eat typically consists of pasta/rice and LOTS of orange juice. Little meat is included unless I make a Digiorno's pizza (often lately) or order out, which is typically done at the Silver Diner, although lately I've been getting the Veggie Stir Fry with Portobello Mushrooms because it TASTES great (added chicken for $2 once and it didn't really add anything). I also typically get a health shake (strawberries,banana,low fat ice cream) because it TASTES good and I prefer mixed fruit better than oreo/snickers, etc. Occasionally I make rice and eat that with frozen beef vegetable stew. Of course, I sometimes eat ramen too (two nights ago actually, with a can of tuna fish). IMHO, my food choice is okay, but it could definitely stand to include more meat and vegetables.
Which reminds me, I have a ribeye steak de-thawing right now...
