I'm guessing a centralized interface for convenience?
IMHO, a private forum, like Mohtalim, is still the best forum system for us, due to the control and customizability. However, I have gotten used to the simplity of invision forums as well (FFXI Example).
But yeah, I created a test group and it doesn't seem to have a lot to offer. Great if you don't want to put in the time to manage your own site / server, but lacking in some feature.

I agree there are better boards than phpBB. I haven't used invision, so I couldn't really say. In its favor, phpBB is already working for Mohtalim, and has several years' worth of history.
If we switched to a different bboard that wasn't controlled by jon, I would probably stop posting. I know that in a pinch I can get jon to delete all the posts I have ever made. Can't really get that through google. I'm sure that most of the public pages have been indexed somewhere else, but our private forum, however...
Yeah, we can't entrust Google with our secret plans for world domination and better MMORPGs. Google'd probably have the time to actually implement them, and then we'd be left with nothing to talk about.
I feel like I just beat a kitten to death... with a bag of puppies.
